Book Blurb

Jonas Maclean is a very special kind of police officer. He investigates and captures supernatural creatures that break the rules. Werewolves, shifters and vampires are just business as usual.

Jonas is surprised when his commanding officer tells him that they’ve captured Dmitri Koval out in a cabin in the woods, where vampires can not escape.

Jonas knows a lot about Dimitri Koval. He’s read his history. He is the “count Dracula” of vampires, way too smart to just walk into a trap, and not prone to killing sprees. How could he have made such a simple mistake?

Curious and excited to actually be interrogating the infamous Dimitri Koval, he is willing to accept the need for him to literally walk into the lion's den.

But alone in a cabin in the woods with the vampire, he finds that not only is there more to Dimitri than expected, but he also learns some things about himself that could change his entire life.

Book Review

Okay, so the storyline for ‘Melting Ice’ volume number eight was a bit of a shock – in a series that has so far been entirely contemporary, suddenly there is a paranormal book. Not that I mind reading about a sexy vampire, it was just totally unexpected. Oh, and this time the officer of the law is not out to protect a witness, he is out to interrogate a prisoner for his misdeeds. The initial tension between two men who see each other as enemies is a familiar element though, and so is the stubborn resistance both men put up to their quickly emerging feelings.

Jonas is exhausted from hunting werewolves when his boss tells him that their special supernatural unit has captured one of the oldest vampires after a massacre. Jonas is suspicious – if the guy is who they think he is, he would have never walked into their trap. Jonas is also curious to get to know a vampire legend – one he has followed for quite some time.

Dmitri, of course, being the experienced vampire he is, has his own agenda. He is a Russian count from the seventeenth century, is very good at staying under the radar, and is known as a loner. He also has a ton of secrets, and it was great fun watching Jonas try to find them all. Of course, Jonas has a few secrets as well, and he is just as reticent to admit any of them as Dmitri.

If you like red-hot passion in your romances, if you want to watch a vampire and a supernaturals-hunting cop dance around each other to see who comes out on top, and if you’re looking for a mystery with more than a few surprises, then you will probably like this novella.
