Book Blurb

Kevin loves being mated to his immortal lion shifter. The man is alpha in all ways, but he is annoying in his insistence that Kevin stay perpetually in bed until the birth of their child. Especially considering that Keaton, the man who murdered Kevin in a past life, is still out there and finding new and inventive ways to stalk Kevin, including threatening to steal his and Alistair’s child to get back at Alistair.

Alistair hates that he can't have peace with his mate, and he's terrified in the most un-alpha way that history will repeat itself and his lover will be taken from him again.

When the best bargaining chip falls right into Alistair's hands, he will be forced to go against his morals to protect the man he loves more than his own life and their unborn child.

Book Review

And the plot thickens… which is one of the things I really like about these multibook series. Kevin and Alistair (from books one and two) are back as a focus couple, this time trying to deal with Kevin’s rather advanced pregnancy. But that isn’t their only issue. In fact, the major surprise – alluded to as a “bargaining chip” in the blurb – almost knocked my socks off. I mean, I had sort of expected this to happen, but not so soon… And no, I am not going to tell you what it is.

Kevin and Alistair are trying to adapt to Kevin carrying their baby. Kevin is having a difficult time with all the physical changes, but then there is Alistair’s over-the-top protectiveness, and that is much harder to come to terms with. From Alistair’s point of view, Kevin needs protection from the evil witch and anything or anyone else that might hurt him or the baby. The fact that Alistair still feels guilty about “failing” Kevin last time doesn’t make things easier, and even though it wasn’t Alistair’s fault, he still feels responsible centuries later.

Kevin also has to deal with the evil witch – who has now figured out how to circumvent the wards on the house and keeps appearing in Kevin’s dreams and threatening him, but since Kevin can’t remember how he made himself and two of the other mates reincarnate, how is he supposed to make it happen for Keaton’s mate? Meanwhile Alistair faces a moral dilemma he has no idea how to navigate and it complicates absolutely everything. Worse than that, if he can’t figure it out, he will lose Kevin and their baby.

If you like the ‘Immortal Knights’ series with its shifters, witches, and increasing complications, if male pregnancy is your thing, and if you’re looking for a suspenseful read with a touch of mystery and a big helping of hot man-on-man action, then you will probably like this novella.
