Book Blurb

He was just looking for experience. What he got was an unexpected romance. Less

When Greg's best friend places a personal ad on his behalf, he doesn't know whether to be angry or grateful. Though bisexual, he'd only ever been with a woman. But when his sexy neighbor across the hall answers his ad claiming to offer the experience Greg seeks, Greg jumps at the chance.

Jack's first sexual experience was a painful one, and he vowed to never hurt anyone the way he'd been hurt. So when Jack sees Greg's ad, he knows he can give the man he's secretly lusted after what he wants and leave him with fond memories.

But as things heat up in the bedroom, a trust builds in their hearts. Now they must see past their differences and future plans or lose a once in a lifetime love.

Book Review

Picture a bisexual man whose best friend picks a potential partner for him. Not just any partner, mind you, but a male one to get "some experience". And she does this not by introducing you to him, but by placing an ad in the personal section. A very explicit ad, asking for test results and pictures. I have a hard time dealing with the concept, but Greg, one of the main characters in this very entertaining story, faces exactly that situation. Needless to say, he is not amused…at least initially. And later on? Well, amused is not really the word that comes to mind either!

Greg, an accountant, has always been with women, except for one experience in a closet (Yes, really!) in college. He is desperately curious what it would be like to be with a man, but the opportunity just never seems to be there. Three years after his fiancée broke off their engagement, his friend Rachel thinks it is time, and Greg, while resistant, has to admit he agrees with her. What follows is in turns hilarious and very touching. When Greg finally manages to walk across the hall to meet with his neighbor, the only promising reply to the ad, he is both nervous and excited, and both warring emotions came across very clearly so I was able to "feel with him" as he dove into the new world of gay love.

Jack is an EMT and the need to help seems to be part of his hardware. That same need may have gotten him into offering his help for Greg, but it's not the dominant emotion for very long. He's not always been very lucky with lovers, and he is determined to make Greg's experience better. He is just the guy to do it too: sensitive, gentle, and genuinely attracted to Greg from the start. Unsurprisingly, he soon wants more than a limited physical relationship, but has no idea how to make a real relationship work.

If you like stories about men who think all they have is physical attraction, only to discover that there is a lot more between them, if you enjoy reading about relationships that start with a simple premise, then get somewhat more complicated pretty soon, and if you're looking for an entertaining read with a lot of heart and emotion, then you will probably like this short story.
