Matthew and Stuart have been dating for more than five months and Stuart thinks things are going well—right up until the moment Matthew suggests they try something different, the kind of different that involves bondage, spanking and leather.

Matthew’s been building up to making this suggestion for weeks, dropping subtle hints and hoping Stuart won’t completely freak out at the mention of kink. Now, with Matthew’s desires out in the open, all he can do is hope that introducing something different will make their relationship perfect rather than destroy it completely...

Book Review

With the third story in the 'Kinky Quickies' series, I am beginning to detect a pattern. What is it with these inexperienced subs needing to throw themselves at well-known Doms? I might suspect it's pure masochism, since that would fit the pattern of what they look for. Then again, it usually makes for a very good story (and that's the sadist in me, I'm sure) to see them walk into their doom, so to speak. Of course, I know "doom" is vastly overstating it and mostly symbolic since this is a Kim Dare story, but still. The thought does have its merits and actually makes me smile. Mostly because, tough and aloof as each Dom in this series may start out, he always ends up in the "doom area" as well – just as much as the sub. Poetic justice of the BDSM variety? Definitely!

So far, Toby has been too shy and too nervous to go for what he wants: a kinky play date with well-known Dom Duncan. His flat mate may have the courage, but Toby is more hesitant. Until the opportunity to "replace" his flat mate comes up and Toby jumps into the deep end without really thinking about it. Even Duncan's gruff manner when he greets him and the humiliating things he makes Toby do (like undress and put on a collar) before he is so much as allowed to enter the club cannot stop Toby from forging ahead. Spanking as a punishment? Toby in his pre-beginner's enthusiasm doesn't even think twice and eagerly does anything and everything Duncan demands from him.

Duncan has wanted Toby ever since he first met him, but since the boy seems to reject all his hints, he backs off. Imagine his shocked surprise when Toby turns up at the doorstep of the club Duncan works at, totally unannounced and clearly nervous. Duncan may have told himself never to get involved with a fresh-out-of-the-kinky-closet sub, but there is no resisting Toby. It doesn’t stop Duncan from being as sadistic as possible, but Toby's reactions quickly make Duncan reconsider. True submission is very rare in his experience, and it's clearly not a game for Toby. That is apparently the way to Duncan's heart, and the result is a plan to keep Toby coming back for more. Duncan has definitely out-clevered himself with this one and made me grin.

If you like the idea of an inexperienced sub throwing himself at the feet of an experienced Dom, if you enjoy reading about the physical and psychological reactions of a BDSM-virgin as he goes though his first scene, and if you're looking for a great mix between humor, heat, and just a touch of sweetness, then you will probably like this short novella. I have to say that this series is definitely growing on me!
