Love failed the first time. Will a second chance be enough?
Love gets a reprise in these short stories by best-selling authors Cassandre Dayne, Lucy Felthouse, Kate Richards, Olivia Starke, and Anastasia Vitsky. All about women's relationships with women, the romance and erotica are deep and abiding with musical interludes flowing throughout. Sprinkled with spanking, a little BDSM, eroticism, and true friendship, these stories tell of women who find love thanks to a second chance.
Anastasia Vitsky brings us a story about Leila and her lover Carene. Leila struggles to recover her career as a classical violinist, and Carene fights for the courage to ask Leila to stay. Music plays a part in Cassandre Dayne's, "Broken Dreams," a story about the lead singer of a rock band who finds love with her former friend, veterinarian Samantha Mason. Their deep, dark cravings are finally revealed. In Lucy Felthouse's story, ex-best friends Eden and Janine are forced to re-evaluate their estrangement when their siblings marry. Kate Richards tells the story of pediatric Nurse Kim's struggle to rejoin the living after the tragic death of her wife. Can Doctor Nora Riley help her learn love can come again? The only problem is that she doesn't know if she can take a chance on love again. In Olivia Starke's story, Broken Promises, a witch named Bet gets a second chance for love 70 years after losing her life. If she and her new lover Tabby can survive The Witch's Curse.
Find the passion, the intimacy, and the desire among women in this anthology written entirely by women. Love's Reprise will melt your heart on even the coolest days.
When love is strained beyond measure, a relationship may never recover. When a lover dies, the surviving partner may never be able to reconnect. This may sound fairly bleak, however, here are five rather happy endings, and with love as the focal point, everyone wins including the reader!
Complicated Gifts
This story was, as the title promises, a bit complicated for me to grasp initially. Carene is a pianist who is very comfortable being a small town instructor. Her lover, Leila, is the concert master/first violist for the NY Philharmonic, but is recuperating from surgery in her lover’s small town and also teaching while she is healing. Their love and relationship is sorely tested between the tantrums and the tensions. Leila expects to scoop Carene off her comfort zone and whisk her away to NYC eventually. Carene is hard at work getting Leila to see the beauty of residing in a small town. This certainly looked like a lose/lose situation – until it resolved itself.
Broken Promises
This story was way cool and highly intriguing. Tabby is renovating a supposedly haunted house. The prologue initially presents a gruesome execution of a supposed witch and practicing lesbian, providing part of the reason for the haunting. Compliments of the witch’s familiar, a most tantalizing resurrection occurs. Now the executioner and the executed are both linked to the haunted house. This story was oh so fantastic!
Broken Dreams
Ginger Parsons is a highly praised rock singer in a very successful band, Driven Wild. Her husband is a creep, a batterer, and a philanderer. She leaves Sammy following an ugly fight after which she hightails it out to LA on her way to becoming the successful and well known leader of her band.
Samantha Mason, Sammy, is a successful veterinarian. It has been four years since her break-up with Ginger. Ginger still haunts her memories. However, her current friends have finagled her into going out for some much needed enjoyment. The date is a disaster.
This happy ending was really, really sweet in an S&M kind of way.
Kimmy
Kimmy is a very proficient nurse and was married to Kyra, an equally proficient general surgeon. Kyra died in an airplane accident a year ago.
Nora is a pediatrician. Kimmy is going to part of her team. They mesh very well although Kimmy is still in mourning. Proximity, affection, and mutual attraction work their wonders.
Nothing seemed to go right with Nora and Kimmy and they both hurt because of it. However, good fortune that comes with happy endings does intervene.
Another Dance
Eden and Janine were school chums and a major misunderstanding split them up for ten years. At Eden’s sister’s wedding to Janine’s brother, they will most probably have to interact.
Ah, true confessions can sometimes lead to happy endings.
