Gavin Howard lives a simple life on his farm, keeping to himself and staying under the radar. That is all changed late one night when a spaceship crash-lands in his cornfield. So what is a simple farmer to do when he finds an injured alien lying in his back yard? Take it inside and care for it until it can "phone home," of course.

But Prince Mi'Kel Ta'Rulen is not what Gavin expected. Beautiful, gentle, and on a mission to save his dying planet, Mi'Kel needs Gavin's help for more than just his injuries. Can Gavin help Mi'Kel find the solution to save his people all while keeping the little alien safe from the Earth governments hunting him?

Gavin finds himself falling in love with the being from outer space, but can he find it in his heart to let the little alien go when Mi'Kel's ship is finally fixed? Or will Mi'Kel's secrets drive them apart when the alien needs his farmer the most?

Book Review

What if "Starman" (of the 1984 movie directed by John Carpenter) had been gay? This story picks up the key elements of that movie, but creates a whole additional and much richer alien world to go with it. Also, the emphasis is on the alien's mission to save his planet, and the developing relationship between Gavin, an ex-Marine and the alien. It is a nice, entertaining read which occasionally made me chuckle at some of the references to other sci-fi books and the sheer improbability of the whole situation.  Serious science fiction this is not, but it's a very sweet story and a wonderful human-alien romance.
Gavin is a simple farmer, but he is also an ex-Marine, so he understands the bigger picture when an alien spaceship lands in his cornfield. He likes the look of the guy and decides to protect him by hiding the spaceship in his barn and applying first aid to the alien. One thing leads to another, and he finds himself falling for Mi'Kel which, of course, creates a whole new range of issues. Soon the Feds who are suspicious about the lights they saw the night of the crash are the least of Gavin's problems…

Mi'Kel is on a mission to sample Earth DNA to bring plants and animals back to his war-ravaged planet. He has no idea why he crashed, and is determined to complete his mission. If only he weren't so attracted to this human who is so willing to help and more than amazing when they make love.

If you like sci-fi with a touch of humor., if you enjoy interspecies relationships and all the cross-cultural and other issues they sometimes entail, and if you're looking for a short, fun read that is bound to touch your heart and yet entertain you, then you will probably like this book.
