Book Blurb

Kerry is the beta of his pack. He is loyal to a fault, holding his honor close to his chest. But he also holds something else close to his chest...his need to dominate. When Jesse walks into his life, Kerry finds the one person meant to be his is the one that needs him to be dominant the most. Teaching Jesse how to be the anamchara of a wolf shifter might be harder to fight than the hunters that drag Jesse into their plans to exterminate paranormals.

Jesse is human who has a bad track record of putting his needs above others, but he has his reasons. When he meets Kerry under unusual circumstances, the life he has been fighting so hard to obtain is handed to him on a silver platter. But this gift has strings, ones Jesse’s not sure he can handle, especially when he tries to do the right thing and his past misdeeds have everyone around him believing the worst, even the man who is supposed to be his mate.

Book Review

The latest volume in this series certainly provides a worthy bang for what might be the ending. All the previous characters are back, the hunters make a last, desperate appearance, and all the story threads are cleaned up quite nicely. With the focus on Kerry, the wolf pack’s beta, and Jesse, wayward brother of Drew (from the previous book), there is lots of clarification, more than one surprise, and some very hot “training” that allows Jesse the fulfillment of his dreams of being dominated. Not before some major suspense hits the pages though.

Jesse is human, clueless about the paranormals’ existence, and more prone to trouble and being in the wrong place at the wrong time than a lot of men. You could say he is naïve and harmless – but that naïveté itself is a major threat to those around him, even when Jesse tries very, very hard to fit into this new world of wolfshifters and vampires he has fallen into. I certainly felt for him when all he does is try to behave and he still gets blamed when the sh*t hits the fan.

Kerry is a competent beta and an honorable man – and he has a desperate need to be a Dom to his mate. He knows who Jesse is to him pretty much from the word go, but he has a harder time explaining it all to Jesse. Kerry tries hard to be fair, but appearances can be deceiving – even to a wolfshifter – and he makes a huge mistake. And while he tries to make up for it, I am not sure I’d ever forgive him. Jesse does – but then, they are mates.

The kidnappings, horrific torture, and general horribleness imparted by the hunters continues – and even spreads – but so does the determination of Carlton and Daniel’s pack and tribe to end the cruelty. This time Kerry and Jesse are at the center of events, but they are by no means the only ones suffering. I was on the edge of my seat rooting on the good guys, and even though I was close to biting my nails, I loved the way the author managed to keep things going. And even though Jesse paid a very, very high price for everyone’s idiocy – how I hated that! – where everyone ended up was still satisfying.

If you like warring tribes and packs come to a peaceful agreement, if you think a man who wants a Master and a Dom looking for a submissive mate deserve to be together, and if you’re looking for a possible conclusion to the ‘Tribal Bonds’ series that is as dramatic as it is hot, then you will probably like this novella as much as I do.
