Book Blurb

True mates, together at last.

Claw—fearless leader of Seattle’s Team 32—has faced many dangers during more than a century and a half as a dreamcatcher. Yet nothing has ever scared him more than his obsession with Nathan Gallagher. Tormented by visions and dreams about the man ever since he first laid eyes on him, Claw now has to deal with living under the same roof with the object of his most ardent desires. And Nathan is so much more than a simple crush.

Brother of the caster who’s been plaguing Team 32’s area and less-than-willing houseguest of the team after a strange break-in attempt, Nathan may hold the key to finally apprehending his sister and putting a stop to the havoc she’s wreaking on Queen Anne…. Meanwhile, Nathan’s wreaking some havoc of his own on Claw’s heart.

Book Review

In the dreamcatchers’ world evil creatures of various abilities launch brutal attacks on the life force of unsuspecting people. Several secret teams of fighters with a variety of abilities oppose them with the help of a range of sacred weapons originating with the ruling body of ancestors. Team 32 operates in Seattle and this third story in the series is not just about Claw, the team leader, finding his mate, but it also brings the threads developed in earlier books together very nicely. Add a few surprises, some revelations, and the usual level of action as Team 32 fights the bad guys, and you’ve got a fantastic adventure added to Claw and Nathan’s touching romance.

Claw has been a dreamcatcher for a long time, and I loved finding out more about his background and past. His obsession with Nathan, a man they pretty much took prisoner, upsets him a lot, and when he thinks that he has figured out why, it doesn’t make things any easier. Yes, he has a crush on him, but, as it turns out, there is a lot more to it than he suspects.

Nathan is a ley witch, not someone traditionally allied with dreamcatchers. He is also the brother of Team 32’s most dangerous enemy, and he is in an extremely difficult situation. He wants to help defeat his sister because she is a true menace, but how is he going to get the team to trust him? His attraction to Claw is unmistakable, but that isn’t why he wants to help them. He figures out a pretty clever way to convince them he is honest, and things get really suspenseful after that.

The fact that Claw and Nathan are soul mates is not an easy thing for them to deal with – first, because they seem to be on opposite sides of the good/evil divide, and, two, because Claw’s past stands in the way. Once they overcome those barriers, there is not much stopping them on a personal level. But they have to confront Nathan’s sister, uncover why she was able to do what she did, and the revelation of a deeper plot and enemy is rather scary. All the other team members do their bit, and I really enjoyed watching them work together.

If you like supernatural worlds that are a mix of legends from various cultures, if the fight of good against evil is your thing, and if you’re looking for a read that is intense, suspenseful, and full of revelations, then you will probably like this novel. It feels like the last one in the ‘Dreamcatchers’ series, and if so, it’s a great ending!
