For ten years they’ve done things Trey’s way. Now Lucien wants more. He wants to be with his lover full-time. Is Trey ready? Will he ever be?
Ten years after they first met and fell in love, Lucien and Trey are still together—after a fashion. Terrified that he’s going to become entirely dependent on Lucien, Trey calls his lover to come spend four to five days with him whenever he finishes a novel. Lucien wants more, but up until now has been willing to bow to Trey’s wishes.
Finally broaching the idea of seeing each other more often, during Trey’s writing periods, Lucien suggests that they begin to date each other on Friday nights. Trey agrees to the experiment and begins to flourish as Lucien gets him out of the house more—to eat, to swim, to visit the beach.
But can Trey remain faithful to his work ethic, get the job done with his novels and enjoy the distractions and adventures Lucien plans for him? Or will Lucien’s desire to have more break them apart?
Only time will tell.
Note: This is a sequel to "Size Matters".
Reader Advisory: This book contains scenes involving fisting and detailed references to enemas.
The relationship between Trey, a blind horror writer, and Lucien, a gym owner, began in ‘Size Matters’ and showed how well these men fit in terms of temperament as well as bedroom preferences. ‘Love Matters’ is set ten years later and has them deeply in love, yet not living together. As it turns out, this is largely due to Trey’s fear of becoming dependent on Lucien (as if that were possible with how self-sufficient he is), then collapsing once Lucien leaves. Lucien certainly has his hands full convincing Trey otherwise and it turns out to be a true relationship adventure.
Trey has been blind all his life, but that has never stopped him from doing what he wants and living life on his terms. He has help from Dodger, a wonderful service dog, and Brian, a very loyal assistant, but mostly Trey runs his own show. Writing horror really takes it out of him though, and it is at the moments right after finishing a novel that he is weakest – and able to admit that some emotional support would be great. Well, more than what Lucien is able to give from a distance while Trey writes and for a few days once he has completed a book. But Trey’s fear of dependence has – so far – been stronger than logic.
Lucien loves Trey more than anyone and desperately wants to move in so they can spend more time together. But he is not one to push despite the fact that he is a very bossy Dom. Lucien understands that Trey needs to be the one to make the decision, but he does his best to show Trey exactly what he is missing. I loved how considerate Lucien is, how in tune with Trey’s needs, and how patient he remains. Lucien can also see how much better Trey does (emotionally) when he is around, so he suggests a breaking of the routine by adding a weekly date night even during the weeks that Trey is writing.
Meeting for regular dates is what finally shows Trey without the shadow of a doubt that a “regular dose” of Lucien is good for him. Lucien proves again and again that he is able to provide support without interfering with Trey’s writing process – tough as it may be on both of them to hold back while Trey immerses himself in darkness and violence. I loved their dates, how they gradually grow closer, and how even their scenes become hotter as time goes on.
If you like stories about deepening relationships, if kinky bedroom scenes and a deepening D/s relationship are your thing, and if you’re looking for an emotional read that is as hot as it is sweet, then you will probably like this novel.
