Book Review

Take one experienced bullrider, who is out of commission due to an injury, and add one "new kid on the block", who has more talent than sense, put them together in close quarters and see what happens. The resulting story is full of cowboy talk, bursts with testosterone, and has a wonderfully crafted ending.

Baron has been riding bulls for a while, so he knows the score when he ends up in the hospital after having been thrown by a particularly vicious bull. But this time, rather than having to stay home, Arlen's offer to share the truck and expenses means he can stay on the road, and he's ecstatic. He's really looking forward to Arlen's company, since he's pretty sure they are both more interested in each other than in a woman. Arlen's resistance only spurs him on to make more of an effort.

Arlen has just broken up with his travel partner who, after years of haring more than their truck, suddenly decided he wanted to settle down with a woman and left Arlen out in the cold. Thank God Arlen is a resourceful guy, and he does admire Baron a great deal, but he is more than hesitant to give in to the man's advances. What if Baron kicks him to the curb once he gets what he wants, just like Arlen's evil ex?

If you like cowboy stories, if you enjoy reading about men who decided they need a bit of courting before falling into bed together, and if you're looking for a read full of romantic tension and with a slow burn, then you will probably like this short story.
