Book Review

'Longing' is book two in the 'Orgasmic Texas Dawn' series and I was really looking forward to getting back to Kieran, Jubilee, and the whole cast of characters in the small town of Lone Trail, Texas. Kieran is an ex-undercover narcotics detective from Canada and Jubilee is a US Marshall, two hot, and exciting cops battling drug wars and their lust for each other. I loved that this book picked up, literally, right after book one ended. And, of course, as I'm beginning to realize is to be expected with these two authors, this story started off with a bang! Another dead alligator autopsy, more body parts, more deceit in the Marshal service, and a whole lot more of the crazy going on.

Seems that there are some people who suspect more than the marshals of being dirty, and Sheriff DePriest is suspended pending investigation and poor Kieran is made sheriff. *snort* Since Jubilee's boss is also suspended, he is put in charge of the district until everything can be sorted out. This, of course, throws these two smack into the middle of a giant mess with deputies disappearing, no clue whom they can trust, electronic bugs being found all over both of their offices, and still no idea what they're doing about their attraction. The fact that it would appear half of the law enforcement in the county is on the payroll of a major drug cartel out of Dallas with roots in Asia, isn't helping matters either.

For Kieran, discovering his dad, who left when he was a little boy, is the go-to guy for the cartel in the county, comes as really no big surprise. I felt bad for Kieran though to have to deal with his nasty dad knowing that one of them wasn't going to make it out alive. In the romance department, Kieran and Jubilee are scrambling to get some alone time together, while trying to each deal with the fact they might be in love. Kieran gets mad at himself because he really doesn't need to fall in love again and get his heart broken. Not to mention that Jubilee is never coming out of this closet in this little town. Whereas Jubilee is trying to understand why he's having such intense a reaction to Kieran, well, besides the obvious. *grins*

I think one of the main reasons I'm really enjoying these books is because the writing style reminds me of the old westerns and I was hooked on those as a little girl. There is so much action in these books, but everything is, pretty much, not a big deal, no muss no fuss. I like that! I like Kieran and Jubilee, too, a lot. This story had plenty of twists and turns that kept me guessing right up until the end!
