Getting accidentally locked out of his hotel room on Valentine’s Day night is embarrassing enough for teacher Martin Cooper, but the fact he’s stark naked makes it even worse. It doesn’t help that the one person he runs into is Rod, the gorgeous man he’d been checking out earlier in the hotel pool. But when Rod offers Martin a refuge, the night heats up. Now if only Martin could get the hang of this seduction business…
NOTE: This story was previously published in the Brit Boys: On Boys anthology in December 2014.
I am a huge fan of Josephine Myles's writing, so when I saw the blurb for 'Locked Out' I knew I had to read this. I couldn't imagine anything funnier than accidentally being stuck naked in a five-star resort hallway with bright lights and no way to get back inside. In fact, I could visualize it, and I couldn't stop giggling.
Martin has accompanied his sister, Michelle, on her Valentine's spa resort package because her terrible boyfriend just dumped her. Martin is a shy primary school teacher with rotten luck when it comes to finding men. I think the shy portion really doesn't help, nor does his lack of confidence. When he meets Rod - hot Speedo wearing guy - in the hallway when he's naked, Martin is at a complete loss as to how to proceed. Luckily, he manages to work up the courage to have his very first one-night stand.
It's too bad Martin decides to manufacture a career that's more exciting, in his mind, than his own. Martin's lie comes back to bite him in the butt, though, when he takes his class to their swim lesson at the local youth center, only to discover the new teacher is none other than Rod. There's some explaining to be done, and a whole lot of makeup sex.
An absolutely adorable, cute, charming, and funny story. I loved it as much as when I first read it as part of the ‘Brit Boys: On Boys’ anthology. Thank you, Jo!
