Book Blurb

Gamer Elijah Burrows is a self-professed loner. Disowned by his parents for being gay, he takes solace in his video games. Out of all his favorites, his newest one -- DungeonCrawl -- is swiftly rising to take the number one spot for him. When a lightning strike hits his house, knocking out the power, Elijah is anything but happy.

Lack of electricity is the last thing Elijah is worried about the second he steps foot out his front door.

What happens when a gamer finds himself stuck in the world of his fantasies? And how the hell does he survive without the aid of a mouse and keyboard?

Book Review

The idea of traveling into other worlds via some sort of device is one that has always fascinated me. Mirrors, wardrobes, portals, whatever method different authors come up with, they’ve got my interest by definition. So when I read the blurb for this story, where a modern-day gamer is transported into the world he’s been gaming in via computer, I was curious. And I wasn’t disappointed. This short story, one of a series if the numbering is any indication, reads like an action/adventure game and is a lot of fun.

Elijah’s real life is pretty depressing with a father and stepmother who are paying him to lie low so his “deviant homosexual activities” won’t become known. No wonder he fells rejected and lonely, and his one solace is the computer with its many offerings of various fantasy worlds. Elijah has been playing DungeonCrawl for a while, and has made quite the name for himself as “Elian”, a well-known and notorious thief of books and jewels. When a lightning strike transports him into the world he’s begun to explore as a game, however, it is suddenly very different. His past actions haunt him as he becomes hunted by the king’s men. To his surprise, he soon discovers Elian of the game has a male lover…

If you’re into gaming and would like to read a story set in what sounds like a great game, if you enjoy the male/male aspect of and adventure-romance not (yet) found in any of the games I am familiar with, and if you’re looking for a read that is a hot combination of love story and action, then you will probably enjoy this short story.
