It isn’t exactly a match made in heaven.
Mike isn’t much of an animal lover, but his sister insists that every little boy needs a pet. Which is how Mike finds himself sitting in a veterinary office, trying to explain the facts of life to his four-year-old nephew while holding a dead hamster in a shoebox. It’s not one of his finer moments. So, of course, that’s when he encounters the cute, shy and utterly lust-worthy Riley Laytham.
When they meet up again, the chemistry is explosive. Even cat scratches, rampant allergies and siblings with incredibly bad timing aren’t enough to deter Mike. Riley is worth any amount of trouble, and Mike is going to prove it to him.
Riley is pretty sure Mike is unique. Whether that’s good or bad is still up for debate, although he does have to admit that the sexy man’s persistence in the face of adversity and embarrassing situations is oddly endearing. Riley believes love takes time to grow, but maybe for Mike he’ll make an exception…even if Mike staunchly declares that he doesn’t like cats.
NOTE: This book was previously published by Amber Quill Press in November 2014.
‘Learning to Love Cats’ is as funny, entertaining, and crazy as the title suggests. Mike, a loving uncle who tries to deal with his exuberant four-year-old nephew, and Riley, one of ten sons who works in the family business, are a hilarious pair. They have almost nothing in common, yet their romance is fast and furious. Their dates are prone to disaster, Riley’s cats are a hoot, and both men’s families are teasingly supportive.
Mike is a contractor who prefers action to words. He is also a loving uncle, and even deals with the pets his sister thinks her son needs but doesn’t want to deal with herself. The problem is that Mike is not an animal person, so dealing with a dead hamster and the kittens that might follow if his sister has her way are actual challenges for Mike. Meeting Riley at the vet makes Mike’s day, and he sets out to date and court the man with everything he is – cats be damned!
Riley is used to chaos – he has nine brothers and runs a farm/orchard/cattery with them. He loves animals, especially cats, and is surprised when Mike seems interested in him. In fact, he can’t believe his luck and is very cautious. That only increases Mike’s determination, and who is Riley to resist? He does need to figure out how to deal with Mike’s issues around Riley’s cats…
If you like insta-lust and whirlwind romances, if you think that two men who seem to have nothing in common deserve a chance, and if you’re looking for an entertaining read with some hilarious moments and lots of hot loving, then you will probably like this novella.
