When Foster finds out the man he’s competing with for the last Christmas tree on the lot is actually buying the tree for the pediatric cancer ward, he lets the guy win. But his competitor, Levi, has a sudden yearning for Foster to be his own Christmas present, and their friends and family help make their Christmas dreams come true.
First edition published by Dreamspinner Press, December 2012.
Sweet and short, this is a very cute Christmas story. Foster may not need a tree for himself, but he wants to help out his roommate, who has her daughter come back unexpectedly early from a visit with her dad, and now needs a tree. He even braves the freezing Colorado winter for her, but the last tree he can find has already been bought. The desperation and determination to do whatever is needed to get that tree was palpable. The stranger's "trump card" of needing the tree for a pediatric ward is something Foster cannot argue with.
Foster is almost ready to give up, but they come up with something better. Both he and Levi, who turns out to be a doctor, quickly come to an agreement of how to solve the issue, and when they discover that both are gay, the race to have as much fun as possible, tree or no tree, is on. I loved how passionate they were and it gave me real hope for a happy ending.
If you like short, hot, and somewhat surprising reads where two very handsome men know exactly what they want to get up to under the tree (or anywhere else, really), you will probably like this story. It made me laugh, it made me smile, and it warmed my heart all at once.
