Book Blurb

Omega Wolf Todd Morgan has been weak and feverish for days. He and his pack have been captured by humans looking to study Todd and his kind, and they're very interested in Todd's pregnancy.

When an alpha bust through the doors to rescue him, Todd is very drawn to the strong, scarred alpha. He wants this man, desperately.

Max has no last name, just a number tattooed on his forearm. He is a wolfhound, a creature bred in a human lab to hunt and kill werewolves. But he and his pack have escaped, and they have control now. He never expected to mate with an omega, let alone one that is carrying the child of another dead alpha.

It doesn't matter. Max loves Todd. The mating has already taken hold and he will do whatever he can to protect Todd and his unborn pup, even if it means keeping him and his friends from leaving his home.

Book Review

In a slight variation on previous werewolf worlds created by Marcy Jacks, this time around she has come up with wolfhounds bred to kill wolves. According to Wikipedia: “The name originates from its purpose (wolf hunting with dogs) rather than from its appearance. The breed was originally developed from war hounds to one used for hunting and guarding.” So while wolfhounds exist, of course they are werewolfhounds in this story and natural enemies of werewolves. There are alphas, betas, and omegas. Male omegas can get pregnant, and cruel humans have set up experiments to do research, but what exactly they are doing isn’t widely known, only that it cannot be good. So, with the stage set, be ready to dive into a world of adventure, mystery, and mates who are not always willing to be mated.

Todd is a prisoner in one of the human research centers, and he is not doing well. He is six months pregnant, but the pup’s father was killed when most of Todd’s pack of werewolves was take prisoner by the humans. His health is deteriorating by the hour, but even when he is rescued, all is not well. Todd has to deal with a powerful alpha who might not accept his baby, a growing attraction to a total stranger, and not knowing where he is, nor where the rest of his pack ended up. And just when they have mated and Todd is beginning to trust and even like Max, Todd finds out that he is mated to a wolfhound, bred to destroy werewolves. How exactly is that supposed to work?

Max is the result of an experiment, but he and a group of other wolfhounds seem to have done pretty well for themselves once they were out of the lab. When they rescue Todd and two other prisoners, life turns more interesting for Max. All he knows is that he wants Todd with more urgency than he has ever felt and that he wants to be the pup’s father, never mind it is someone else’s child, as much as he wants Todd. He doesn’t care what anyone else thinks, and he is prepared to do almost anything to make Todd happy.

If you like werewolf, or werewolfhound, stories with a touch of secrecy, if two men meant for each other meeting under less than ideal circumstances pique your interest, and if you’re looking for a read that is as suspenseful as it is hot, then you will probably like this novella. I think it’s a promising start to a new series.
