Book Blurb

Elliot is an up-and-coming architect who just opened his own firm—which is a lot more work and pressure than he expected. His partner, Graham, is a respected composer and conductor. They share their love and lives in a beautiful house designed by Elliot, and whenever things get too hard to handle, they retreat to their cabin getaway where Elliot becomes Dom to Graham’s needy little sub.

When things at Elliot’s firm begin to crumble, Graham needs to be the tough one, the one to suggest the cabin and the games they play there, knowing Elliot’s role as Dom will give him strength and that their games will recharge his lover. Together, they keep working to find that precarious balance in their lives—until an accident threatens to change everything. Elliot and Graham’s love faces its greatest challenge yet, and only the resilience they draw from each other can see them through hardship and keep the music in their lives.

Book Review

This story about Graham, a sensitive musician/composer/conductor, and Elliot, an architect who has gone into business for himself, had me admiring the way they connect not only in everyday life, but also how they deal with the multiple stresses that come with their busy lives. Their way of connecting with their deepest desires in a cabin away from "real life" was a nice variation on the Dom/sub lifestyle. How they use that space to overcome the small and big disasters in their lives - and yes, there is lots of hot and kinky sex - made for an entertaining story with some of the most heated encounters I have read in a while.

Elliot is an in-charge guy, good at the job of designing houses and other buildings, and going into business on his own rather than work for a large firm, seemed like a good idea at the time. But multiple stresses come with owning a business, some of them unexpected, and Elliot is having a hard time dealing with the pressure.

Graham is a composer and very excited about finishing his first opera and then getting it performed. He is under a lot of stress while writing it, and the stress relief he gets from spending time with Elliot in their cabin is much needed. As a perceptive partner, he also figures out when Elliot has had enough, and even though Graham is the sub in their sexual relationship, he is an equal partner where their needs are concerned, so he has a say in when to go to the cabin just as much as Elliot – and I loved that.

Graham and Elliot are a great couple, and seeing them deal with life was great. But it’s when the unforeseen happens that they need all their love and skill to come out of the situation with their partnership intact. It was a close call, more than once, and kept me in suspense for a while. The underlying strength of their love is all they have to overcome the crisis when their roles are put in question, and Graham has as much to learn as Elliot before they can find a new balance.

If you like stories about established couples learning how to deal with stressful new situations, if you enjoy loving BDSM relationships, and if you’re looking for an emotional tale with lots and lots of sexy stress relief, then you will probably like this novel. I enjoyed it as much reading it the second time as I did the first – probably even a little more.
