Ricky Marcel's been in LA for eleven months, struggling to prove his dad back home in Bourbon, Kansas, wrong. Very wrong. Ricky has the chops to make it as an actor. He proves it every day, charming not only his customers at the restaurant where he works, but also the numerous casting agents he sees for auditions.
When he's called in to read for a super-secret series, Ricky's stunned to find he's on the fast track to a fake reality show about gay gigolos. He's been in the closet so long he has no clue where the key is located. But the fancy Bel Air pad that comes with his job, not to mention the money, influence him to go for it.
Then there's Drake Hardy, a mysterious figure who is not only incredibly sexy, but the show's producer. The attraction between the two men is immediate. Yet Ricky becomes frightened when he learns that Drake is a Dom. Can Ricky not only be a whore on TV, but Drake's personal sex slave as well?

The story of Ricky Marcel, a simple man who comes from an abusive background and wants to prove himself as an actor, touched me deeply. Yes, part of it is because he is an underdog, yet has enough fighting spirit and determination for three men. Part of it is also that he is a great guy, friendly and helpful, nice to even the most horrible customers in the restaurant he works to make a living. But the biggest part, I think, is because he is so unassuming, almost naïve in some respects, and utterly grateful for everything good that starts to happen to him as soon as he auditions for the "fake reality show" that turns out to be about gay gigolos.
Ricky isn’t sure what to think about this part he is about to play on a TV show. He may be gay, but he has been hiding in the closet for so long (and with a father like his – no wonder), he really does feel as though he'll be playing a part. Then they start to outfit him and his fellow gigolos for the show, give them a new haircut and lessons on how to drink a cocktail, not to mention let them move into some gorgeous mansion. Some of what happens is really funny, and the small tidbits of what really goes on behind the scenes in Hollywood were not only utterly believable, but highly amusing.
Drake Hardy, the show's producer, turns out to be far more interested in Ricky – and not because he is a talented actor – than is normal in his role. Ricky is very attracted to him, and a sort-of-romance soon ensues. Drake is extremely domineering and Ricky isn’t sure he'll be able to deal with that, but as they get to know each other better, Drake makes some pretty compelling statements and promises, and Ricky can’t say he's ready to run screaming for the hills…
If you like stories about men who "make it in the big city", if you enjoy reading about the glittering world of Hollywood, and if you're looking for a read that is highly entertaining, even outright funny in places, and full of romance, then you will probably like this novella.
