Sloan Newman loves her twins even though they are almost as dominant as their fathers. Sloan loves her Master and Sir and cannot imagine life without them in it. Unfortunately, juggling the needs of her babies and her Doms without any help makes her feel guilty for not working. Without the creative outlet of her writing she grows frustrated, and after the end of a particularly trying day, Sloan has a meltdown.
Sloan’s outburst, inappropriate though it might be, brings up issues her men were unaware were festering in their home. After dealing with her outburst, Dane Bennett and Merlin Gates decide it is time for a grown-ups-only weekend at Club Esoteria.
Will Sloan be able to relax and find some kind of balance? Will they be able to come up with a solution to their woman’s stress and frustration? Will Sloan, her Master and her Sir finally get their happily ever after?
Dom Dane Bennett, his sub Merlin, and Sloan (sub to both Dane and Merlin) are featured once again much to my delight. They were also highlighted in Club Esoteria 1 and included within the Christmas Story for Club Esoteria 4. I recommend reading those beforehand to truly enjoy this magnificent novella.
There is some trouble brewing at home for this trio and it is explosively brought to Dane and Merlin’s attention. Sloan’s cousins come down hard on Dane and Merlin, too, in regard to this trouble since they learned about it several days earlier. Now the table, battlefield, and contest of wills are set. This was a fantabulous story with super sexy trio action, BDSM, and a slave auction for charity that brings back fond memories but current anxieties. Marvelous!
Dane, Merlin, Sloan, and Sloan’s twin boys are the nexus around which everything swirls. The children are under two years of age. Sloan is very attentive to her babies, but as a sub for both Dane and Merlin, she is extremely attentive to their needs, too. Sloan is also suffering under a sense that she is not pulling her weight. Really? So, who is noticing and/or attending to Sloan’s needs? Aye, therein lies the proverbial rub!
The delicious complexities and subterfuges initiated by Dane and Merlin plus Sloan’s cousins, Jenna and Taurus, all put in play with altruistic aspirations for the benefit of Sloan, have both potentially comedic and inadvertent tragedy swirling around them. More than ever, I was very nervous on Sloan’s behalf as all manner of good intentions seemed to be pulling Sloan away for her heart’s desires. There were no real ogres here, but possibly misguided objectives from two separate camps. When two impressive dominant personalities are ostensibly on opposite sides, well all hell can break loose! This book had one spectacular scene after another, many laced with D/s energies or intimate family moments. I was nervous but totally captivated. This was a splendid story best appreciated and enjoyed if one’s equilibrium is in tip-top shape and solid as can be!
