Russell Bozeman has wanted Jonny since the moment the frightened young man arrived in Cade Creek. Even knowing how badly Jonny was abused doesn’t make Russ want him any less. It just tells him that he needs to control his desires.

After one night of unbridled passion, Russ is positive he’s lost Jonny forever, but an angry confession from Jonny gives him hope. Positive he can win Jonny back, Russ calls in all of Cade Creek to help him. But someone doesn’t want them to be together, and they will do anything to prevent it, even commit murder.

Book Review

The 'Cade Creek' story I have waited for since Jonny appeared in book two is finally here! It’s not an easy romance between him and Russ, and all because Russ doesn’t think he is the right partner for Jonny. It’s been an entire year since Jonny moved to Cade Creek, and they still stumble from one misunderstanding to the next. And when Jonny finally decides to move on, the real trouble begins. Filled with suspense and a few surprises and twists, this is an entertaining read with lots of “sweet” to make up for the suffering Jonny and Russ have to go through.

Jonny is Elliot’s younger brother and has been horribly abused by their stepfather. He lives with Elliot and his partner Mitchell on the farm, but the man he is interested in is Mitchell’s best friend and business partner, Russ. Not that Russ reciprocates this interest in any way – to the point that Jonny believes Russ is ashamed of Jonny and what he wants. There is only one thing to do, and that is to gain some distance. Or so Jonny thinks – until he finds out moving into town was a real mistake. Some pretty awful men are after him and he needs all the help he can get to stay safe.

Russ is a quiet man, fierce and proud, and he is horrified by the thought of hurting Jonny after he has been hurt and abused so badly. When the attraction overwhelms him and he gives in to his desire, he is shocked by what he does, thinking he is a monster - and withdraws. By the time he understands that Jonny is more than interested in him it is almost too late, but Russ quickly comes up with a plan. The threat to Jonny from two thugs who don’t want to seem to give up only increases Russ’s desire to protect Jonny – whatever the cost.

If you like sweet romances hindered by stubbornness, fear, and uncertainty, if characters who need to learn how to communicate are your thing, and if you’re looking for a read that is as sweet and hot as it is suspenseful and angsty, then you will probably like this novella.
