Book Blurb

Ten years ago, a drunk driver ran over Jared Hudson’s family. Thanks to the intervention of the Darkfall Mountain Pack, Jared and his sister became survivors, predators, and werewolves. A decade is plenty of time for Jared to plot his vengeance. He’s digging two graves, his own and his parent’s murderers, but it doesn’t matter. Jared plans to see this tale to the end, even if it costs him his own life. The one thing Jared didn’t account for? Falling in love with the man he swore to kill.

Bear shifter Matthias Jensen has spent plenty of time behind bars. He’s balanced the scales. Paid plenty for his penance, but it doesn’t seem enough. When a mouthy pup threatens to kill him, Matt instantly recognizes Jared as his mate. He’s dreamed of begging for forgiveness. Matthias thought he was ready to die for his sins, until he realizes that there’s something else worth living for—a future with his unexpected mate.

Book Review

'Jared's Heart' is book five in the series and I'm enjoying getting to know each of these pack members more and more. Jared and his younger sister, Jane, are enforcers for the pack but in some ways they are children to Sergio, Alessio, and Michella. Jared and Jane were found by the siblings after a car accident killed their parents and almost killed them. Sergio gave them the bite and welcomed them into his pack, a boy of ten and his little sister.

Jane, with her sweet nature, has been able to let go of her anger and pain at the loss of their parents due to a drunk werebear. Jared? Not so much. He's been storing it up for years. Unbeknownst to everyone, Jared has kept a file on Matthias and has spent years corresponding with him in prison. Jared has never been anything but blunt with his hatred and his accusations and Matthias has always responded apologizing and begging for forgiveness. It matters not to Jared that Matthias lost his wife and cub in an accident and that began his alcoholism. Jared wants him to die. Years of sharing letters, sometimes about mundane parts of life, have forged a bond, however.

Didn’t Matthias deserve a second chance? Hell. Jared couldn’t even remember his parents anymore or how they were like, and neither did Jane. Sergio, Alessio and Michella raised them the best they could. It wasn’t smooth sailing, but they were family. Jared had family, and his pack, but what did Matthias have? Ghosts? What good were those?

Matthias, believing he was going to die, made a deal with a pack of werehyenas (basically the mob) and now that things have changed between him and Jared, Matthias is in a world of trouble. Stupid bear. Luckily for him, Darkfall doesn't take too kindly to anyone intimidating someone in their town.

Jared and Matthias's story was very intense and more emotional than the previous installments. I enjoyed it very much and look forward to more.
