Nikolas is a performer at paranormal the nightclub Bloodrose. When it comes to bottoming on stage, he’s incomparable. When it concerns dating co-workers, Nikolas is on way shakier ground.
New bar manager Ashe has been told Nik is way out of his league. Maybe that’s why he’s not prepared for what happens when the two of them begin dating. Can the boys figure out their hang-ups before it’s too late for their relationship?
Relationships with people you work with are always tricky, but the budding romance between werewolf Ashe and half werewolf Nikolas takes this to a whole new level. And not even as much because there is an anti-fraternization policy (because there isn’t one at the Bloodrose), but because of the job-related hang-ups Nikolas has. Ashe isn’t even aware of them, nobody seems to be able to tell him, and discovering what is going on in Nikolas's head is a bit of a shock. Nikolas, on the other hand, needs an attitude adjustment – and to admit the truth about what he wants.
Ashe is a new bartender at Club Bloodrose, and he is determined to do a good job. On his first night he notices Nikolas who performs as a bottom, but is warned that Nikolas doesn’t date coworkers. Ashe has no idea why not, and decides to see what happens. When Nikolas does show an interest, he is elated, but the happiness doesn’t last long. Ashe has his job cut out for him, since he doesn't even really understand the D/s versus top/bottom dynamic. He certainly isn’t ready for the finer points!
Nikolas loves to bottom, but he is not a sub. I loved the descriptions he gives Ashe, trying to clarify the difference, but even though they're very clear, Ashe still doesn’t seem to get it. He just doesn’t see the world in those terms, and that should be a big hint to Nikolas. This man is different from Nikolas's previous lovers. But Nikolas is too wrapped up in is own issues and worries, and he misses the signals. Once he does understand the problem, he still needs time to wrap his head around it.
If you like hot stories about men struggling with their preferences and kinky needs, if you enjoy reading about BDSM club employees, and if you're looking for a touch of the paranormal, then you will probably like this short story.
