Book Blurb

Adam is a great believer in science. If something is scientifically proven, it’s a fact, and Adam doesn’t waste his time arguing with facts. Tom is as straight as any man can possibly be, Adam doesn’t like it, but he knows he has no choice but to accept it.

When Tom approaches Adam at the office Christmas party, Adam’s not going to let himself be fooled into thinking that Tom is flirting with him just because the other man is friendly, or because he doesn’t seem to understand the whole person space thing.

Facts are facts, until they suddenly change, in the blink of an eye.

Book Review

Have you ever wondered what goes on at office Christmas parties? This story about two men finally getting to talk in a somewhat social setting gives one answer – and it is blissfully far removed from anything human resources would approve of. Naturally, this only works well and without risk in fiction, but I bet there have been some "real life experiments" along exactly the same lines Kim Dare uses here. The result she presents us with in this version is funny, very hot, and provides insight into the scientific mind that has absolutely nothing to do with a laboratory setting.

Adam is a scientist, shy, and in desperate lust with Tom. There is only one problem: he has studied Tom carefully and has concluded the man is not gay. The methodology he used made me laugh out loud, and I loved how it was linked to the title! The result is that Adam sits quietly in a corner, wishing things were different. When Tom actually approaches him, he is adorably tongue-tied, but his body – luckily - knows how to respond.

Tom has no idea about the "study" he has been subjected to, he just knows that none of his attempts at flirtation have been successful. When he finally loses patience and takes matters into his own hands, the response he gets surpasses his wildest dreams. He may have destroyed Adam's carefully tested hypothesis, but neither of them can muster the energy to care. They have far better things to do once the initial obstacles have been removed.

With lots of witty dialog and some fun observations between the men as they get to know each other a little during their first non-work encounter, this story made me smile. It also gives new meaning to the usefulness of outdoor smoking areas! If you're looking for a fun, short, and very witty story, give this one a try. If you also like stories with a little bit of a twist and some very hot man-on-man action thrown in, you will probably like it as much as I did.
