Book Blurb

Alistair is an immortal knight charged with protecting humanity and shifters from the dark forces that plague them. Dangerous and deadly, Alistair has spent hundreds of years with his back turned on his duty after the brutal murder of his mate, and he wants nothing more than to be left alone.

When his brothers discover what they believe to be a dark witch roaming the woods near their home, Alistair is furious. The witches killed his mate, and he hasn't had a kill in a long time.

One look into Kevin's mismatched eyes and Alistair is floored. He immediately rushes into protective mode, protecting his mate from his brothers, who want Kevin dead.

Kevin is Alistair's mate, reincarnated after being murdered by their enemy. It sounds outlandish, but when Alistair kisses him, Kevin can't resist. He wants to be taken by this man, wants to be dominated by him—even when horrifying memories from the past start to return.

Book Review

Shifters and witches are a rare combination, so I was very excited to see both feature prominently in Marcy Jacks’s new series ‘Immortal Knights’. Add the whole idea of some secret organization of knights protecting humans and shifters alike, and I was hooked before page one! But then the whole drama began to unfold - from Kevin being captured by the knights, to the return of some of his memories and the old and new threats the group faces – and I was doubly hooked. From the concept to this initial installment, ‘Immortal Knights” looks like a fascinating series.

Kevin grew up in Michigan, recently graduated college, and has been hiking and camping in Canada to celebrate his success. He has some unusual abilities, but none of them really help when he encounters a huge bear who changes into a very tall, strong man and yells accusations at Kevin. A few more strong men appear and seem intent on kidnapping Kevin. He fights them with everything he has, but it’s not enough and he ends up in a dungeon, shackled to a metal bed.

Alistair is one of the immortal knights tasked with protecting creatures of the light against the darkness. He is a lionshifter, and he and his brothers, all of them a different variety of shifter, have been hunting witches for hundreds of years. So when his brothers drag back one whom they found skulking in the woods, Alistair is determined to kill the creature. Witches like that murdered his mate, so he feels entitled to take revenge.

Only Kevin is not what he appeared to be at first glance. And as Alistair realizes the truth and Kevin begins to recall his past, they renew their bond. Kevin remembers some details better than others, and when an old enemy finds them, Kevin has to think on his feet if he and Alistair want to have a chance to survive. As for the final twist in this first installment? Never saw it coming but I adored it!

If you like supernatural series with a mixture of beings, if a story arc full of mystery, unexpected events, and twists and turns is your thing, and if you’re looking for a read that is clearly only the beginning of some very exciting developments, then you will probably like this novella.
