Book Blurb

After a six year absence, Kale Stone returns to Australia to inherit his father’s vineyard, Vine Mountain Winery, but finds a shocking requirement to the will. His homophobic father set an impossible condition: he must marry or reach age thirty-five before he can inherit the family business and fortune. Unable to run the winery without the money, he has no choice but to sell.

The only light in the darkness is his childhood friendship with the winery manager, Tyler Duram, which grows into a secret love affair. When an offer arrives for the vineyard, it includes a contract for Tyler. Unwilling to lose Tyler, Kale searches for another solution— until he catches Tyler kissing another man.

Book Review

Kale, of 'I Heart You' by H.C. Brown, never thought he would come back to Australia. His father kicked him out six years ago, for being gay; but when his father dies, Kale returns for what he thinks is going to be a short stay. Anxious to get the estate settled, he meets with the lawyer who informs him that, in an obvious, final attempt to coerce Kale go straight, he will inherit the vineyards, but not his father's money unless he gets married.

Kale dreads going back to a place where there are so many bad memories, but he has a responsibility to the workers who have lived and worked on his father's land for years. The saving grace in all of this comes from rekindling his relationship with Tyler, who is now managing the place. The old feelings they had before Kale left still burn bright and they become hot, passionate lovers. Although they try to keep it a secret, they soon have to tell everyone when Kale realizes that if he marries Tyler, he doesn't have to sell the place, like he first thought. He proposes to Tyler and they make plans to get married, fulfilling the conditions of the will.

Tyler is elated that Kale is back and is going to try his best to get Kale's attention and, hopefully, end up in his bed. In order to avoid humiliation, he fails to tell Tyler everything he did while Kale was gone. He's afraid he'd never have a chance with him if he knew the truth about him. When Kale proposes, he is so happy. They get married and come back to the winery, making all kinds of plans for the future. The past comes back to haunt him though, and Sam, the man that Kale also has a history with and who is blackmailing Tyler threatens to tell Kale everything. When Kale witnesses an argument between them, he wrongly assumes that it's sexual and loses his mind. He throws Tyler out of his house, but still has to be around him at work. Kale decides that he's going back to Paris where he was living before, and forget the winery and, especially, Tyler. It seems nothing or no one can change his mind. Tyler is utterly heartbroken and angry at Kale for not listening to reason.

This is a light, passionate love story, with a lot of sexual tension, and hot bedroom action, with some information thrown in about the running of a winery. There's a bad guy who is easy to hate and a huge misunderstanding that almost ruins everything. I recommend this story for a relaxing, romantic escape from the cares of your everyday life. Thanks, H.C., for a nice diversion from reality.
