Book Blurb

Unregistered paranormal Caleb Jansen only wants a normal life. But when a demon murders his brother, Caleb knows he has to avenge Ben’s death, no matter what the cost. Unfortunately, his only allies belong to an extremist group who would kill Caleb if they found out about his talent.

Gray is a wandering spirit, summoned to hunt and destroy demons by drinking their blood. This hunt goes horribly wrong, and for the first time in his existence Gray is trapped in a living, human body. Caleb’s body...and Caleb is still in it.

Hotshot federal agent John Starkweather thinks he’s seen it all. But when he’s called to exorcise Caleb, he finds a creature which isn’t supposed to exist outside of stories. For Gray is a drakul: a vampire.

Having spent his life avoiding the government as an unregistered ‘mal, Caleb can’t let himself trust a federal exorcist, no matter how sexy. And he certainly isn’t going to give into the heat growing between them and sleep with Starkweather.

Can Starkweather win Caleb’s trust and convince him he isn’t the enemy? Can Caleb keep Gray under control, as the drakul experiences the temptation of a living body for the first time?

Because if he fails and Gray gives in to bloodlust, Starkweather will have no choice but to kill them both.

Book Review

I am a big fan of Jordan L. Hawk's and for obvious reason. Her books are crisp, clean, fast-paced and really fascinating. Book one in her new series SPECTR, Hunter of Demons, is no exception.

Caleb Jansen is an ordinary guy who lives under the radar with a slight telekinetic talent. He's spent his entire life keeping that a secret so he doesn't get registered with the government as a paranormal and spend the rest of his life being monitored. In a serious twist of irony Caleb has been possessed by a drakul, a vampire, a force of immense etheric energy. One of the interesting parts of this story is Gray, the drakul. A very strong personality, he has memories from all the dead he's possessed but no understanding of mortality or these memories. He's never had to feel before and now within Caleb he does.

Special Agent John Starkweather is a paranormally-abled exorcist with SPECTR. He's also incredibly hot. At the orders of his boss he's babysitting Caleb/Gray in order to learn as they've never seen anything like Gray before. What he discovers is that within this man (men?) lies the ability to track the Non-Human Entities, or demons. So now we've got the beginnings of a possible partnership if they can wade through all of the BS.

I really liked this book and I am so looking forward to the rest of them coming in the series!
