Lany

I had once thought that my life was the comic relief for the universe. Today, I was positive I had been right in my line of thinking. It was the only way to explain how I ended up sitting on the floor of my favorite Thai restaurant, surrounded by armed men and hostages.

It was my anniversary, after all.

I wanted to go to Lany the moment I stepped into the Thai Rose and saw him kneeling on the floor next to Eddie, but dealing with the people threatening him with guns came first. I didn't want him in the line of fire if trouble started. Of course, knowing Lany's luck, just being on the same city block put him in the line of fire.

He was a hot mess.

Author's Note: This book is written in the first-person point of view of both main characters.

Book Review

I was very happy to be back in the world of 'Hot Mess' by Stormy Glenn. I adore Lany and Sal is the epitome of hunky alpha male. Even his job as a SWAT commander is sexy. I could tell by the description that somehow Lany has ended up smack-dab in the middle of trouble, again, and I'm positive it's through no fault of his own. Personally, I think these two need to stop even acknowledging their anniversary because somehow that day always brings bad mojo down on them.

Lany's mouth, not to mention the running commentary in his head, constantly keeps me laughing. He's in a hostage situation with Lyn, a member of the SWAT team, and Eddie who is protected by the alleged mob, and the yahoos with guns want one of them to call and be the go-between. So not going to happen. As Lany said, “I do understand that you have a gun and I don’t want to die, but if you force me to make that phone call, somebody is going to die and it’s not going to be me.”

If only this story were just about the hostage situation, but as usual, the author has thrown a few more things into the plot, including Eddie's art show, Uncle Jerry, the police chief, and the public relations nightmare that is Lany being friends with an alleged mobster's son, and so much more. Well, now, that were some serious revelations about Eddie's Uncle Vinnie that I didn't see coming, and when Isabella was killed protecting Vinnie, it broke my heart to see him so devastated over the loss of his friend.

Well, I can't say I'm horribly surprised by this ending. The thought did cross my mind a time or two after Isabella's death since she was leaving newborn twin girls all alone. Huh. I can't wait to see if the author is going to write another installment. The alleged mobsters being friends with my guys is just beyond hilarious. Thank you, Stormy, for another fabulous addition.
