A request from the commander-in-chief forces Secret Service Agent Cameron Roberts to break her word to the woman she loves—a woman who just happens to be Blair Powell, the president's daughter.
Cam places duty before love, despite knowing that this decision may destroy her tenuous new relationship with the first daughter. As the rift between the two women widens, more than one would-be-suitor is happy to offer Blair the company that Cam cannot.
Amidst political intrigue, and escalating threat to Blair's safety, and the seemingly irreconcilable personal differences that force them ever further apart, Cam and Blair struggle to find their way back to one another.
This is an up close and incredibly intense story about what it is like to be the daughter of the president of the United States. Additionally it is a remarkably demonstrative examination of an extraordinary relationship as it is being rekindled, retooled, and at times almost overwhelming for both parties. The other member of this couple is an astoundingly fine secret service operative and an amazing leader of the team in charge of safeguarding the chief of state's only child. I initially read the last published book of this series to date, book nine. I have since thoroughly enjoyed the first book and now I am unquestionably planning on devouring the entire collection in order. If any new gems appear on the scene they will go on my must-read list too. Magnificent!
Blair Powell is a more than an interesting woman caught in a multi-layered conundrum being related to such a public figure. Plus, with her mother having succumbed to breast cancer when she was nine years old, she performs double duty which also includes being an escort to her esteemed father. She has a beautiful mind of her own, a blistering passion for the person who captured her love, and a distinct sense of independence that puts the secret service team assigned to her on their toes nearly always. I simply cherish Blair and more than admire her heart, spirit, and often cantankerous nature brought on by her almost exclusively living in a fishbowl and often under the microscope of practically everyone. What a spitfire!
Cameron Roberts to me appears as if she were born to be a United States secret service agent and the formidable head of the team responsible for the Blairs’ safety twenty-four hours of every day. She can adjust her demeanor within the scope of her role in a form I have yet to observe in anyone. Additionally she can function on next to no sleep for days at a time. However, her most endearing quality to me was when she knows how fervid her feelings are for Blair, she openly reveals the depth of her affection yet manages to balance and execute the times of her expressions of this intent in a well-nigh perfectly covert manner. She may be the most consummate professional I have ever had the pleasure of reading about. Couple that with her astonishingly focused and devoted sentiments toward Blair, she is wondrously adorably and captivatingly laudable. Bogglingly and certifiably awesome!
I was filled with a dazzling array of sensations while perched on the edge of my seat for by and large the entire book. I definitely recommend this. Satisfying to the max!
