Book Review

'Holidays with Jacob' is a nice short story that begins a few months after Malcolm and Jacob's reconciliation at the end of book one. It visits these men at each of the holidays throughout the year and I was able to see how their new relationship was working. Lee Brazil does a good job with allowing the characters to flow along the pages and letting them tell their own story of love. Five years apart for these two men has made a world of difference in their communication skills. Well, that, and Malcolm's divorce. *smirk*

It was nice to see that, this time, Malcolm and Jacob took it very slowly, especially the physical intimacy of their relationship. They hurt each other, a lot, and some things have changed in five years. The author was very realistic about these issues and the way he presented them, from Malcolm treating Jacob like he is breakable to Jacob's deceased husband, Peter, still standing between them. I still completely love Jacob but, once again, I'm not very thrilled with Malcolm as a man or a lover. I suppose I simply can't connect with him and, in some regards, I thought he was very selfish and ridiculous.

This was a good sequel and really wrapped up Malcolm and Jacob's new life together and the shedding of their past. Thank you, Lee, for reuniting me with these guys. I enjoyed it.
