Book Review

After the first two adventures in the ‘Wolf Creek’ series (Black Wolf and Duck Fart – neither of them should be missed, especially if you have a sense of humor), I couldn’t wait what Jade Buchanan would come up with for a hedgehog and a wolf shifter. Not exactly the “natural” best buddies on a good day, but with Ethan’s past boyfriend issues and Rick’s alpha wolf shifter issues I was sure it would be quite an adventure. And it is!

Ethan is a hedgehog shifter and has a prickly enough disposition to prove it. He also has a great sense of humor and the courage to defend himself when needed – which leads to a rather embarrassing situation for Rick before they finally acknowledge they are mates. Not that this means it’s easy sailing from there on out, but at least it’s a start.

Rick may be a powerful alpha wolf shifter, but he also has a lot more sense than many other alphas out there. Yes, he is forceful and convinced he knows best, but he is far more empathic than lots of his colleagues and his listening abilities are above average as well. With Ethan as his mate he needs all of that and more to make things work, and I loved watching both of them adjust to their new status in life.

If you like shifters with a sense of humor, if you think a hedgehog and a wolf make a good pairing – eventually, and if you’re looking for a read full of as much humor as heat between the sheets, then you will probably like this novella.
