Book Blurb

Liam Kantry wants to be with the man he has loved his whole life, yet incessant gossip and innuendos have labelled him the pack whore--a point he has never disputed. Now the rumours have come back to bite him in the arse.

Carlo Bruenelli is waiting for his heart-mate; he's one of the pack who truly believes they really do exist. In his heart he wants it to be his best friend, only problem is he knows Liam doesn't believe in heart-mates. What will it take to change Liam's mind? And should he even try?

Christmas is drawing near, and between snowball fights and the inter-pack gathering, Liam and Carlo find themselves caught up in the excitement and obsessing over what their future holds. Especially when a small child forms a bond with them. They learn there is more out there than they ever dreamt was possible.

Can Liam and Carlo work around the newness of their own mating to protect someone who needs it most?

NOTE: This work is a significantly expanded (almost tripled in length), re-edited re-release title. The original was relesed by Silver Pubishing in December 2012 as a short story.

Book Review

A new shifter world is always interesting to me, and this one has some extra "rules" as well as engaging characters. Both Carlo and Liam have their flaws and issues, family and their support as well as a feud play a major role, and the pack alpha, for once, is not the bad guy. Plus the setting is around Christmas and a major "pack ritual", so the background alone is rich and pulled me in. I enjoyed rereading this story, and have to say that I liked it a lot better than the original short story. The additional details and scenes made the experience more fun and much richer, and I am happy to see a “number 1” attached to this book, as it lets me hope there will be more stories in this world.

Carlo is a romantic, which is pretty funny, considering he is a werewolf. Then again, werewolves are clearly people too, so I guess he is entitled. His big thing is finding his heart-mate, and while he adores his best friend Liam (has done for years), he can’t get himself to believe they might ever be more. Liam's image is that of pack slut, and Carlo just can’t see the guy even being interested in him when he has so many other options. Carlo also doesn’t want to risk their friendship, even thought they have drifted apart a little over the last few years. And that, right there, should have been a hint…. But Carlo ignores it, refusing to get his hopes up, and focuses on the upcoming pack gathering and twelve-day Christmas ritual instead. There is no guarantee, but maybe he can find his heart-mate there, not having found him in his own pack.

Liam has a problem. A big one. He loves his best friend Carlo (although he will only admit to “attraction” in his own head), who is two years younger than him and has only now come of age—old enough to attempt finding his mate. Liam has tried to find a mate at past rituals, only to find he wanted neither of the men he hooked up with. His second issue is that his image is totally undeserved, but with his brother spreading rumors of Liam's sexual prowess faster than he can keep track, Liam is powerless to stop them. Despite pretty bad odds Liam wants Carlo and is determined to woo him properly. I loved how his family pulls together to help once they understand what is important to Liam.

If you like werewolf stories that include incurable romantics, if you enjoy finding out the "rules of the game" of a new paranormal world, and if you're looking for a sweet story with a few twists and a surprising and perfect ending, then you may like this novella.
