Book Blurb

This time, it’s a real bunny shifter and you know the saying about doing something like bunnies…

Oliver Biggerstaffer comes to Texas from Boston, looking for a job and a new life. He’s hoping the advertising firm he interviews for will hire him, and he can put his past where it belongs—behind him. No one will know who or what he is—a snake shifter.

Except he’s interviewed by Jagger Osterman, a bear shifter, and he meets a cute bunny shifter at the hotel where he’s staying. Oliver can’t hide his shifter status from them. And he doesn’t want to, once he meets them—especially the bunny, Peter Ruiz. It’s lust at first sight, but Oliver wants to take things slow as long as he’s staying at the hotel Peter’s working at.

Peter wants to get laid, and he wants to get laid now. The sexy snake shifter he’s attracted to has morals and ethics and things most of the guys Peter’s screwed around with before lack.

Oliver treats Peter like a person, not a body to have sex with, and if they can survive a series of weird accidents that might not be accidents after all, then Oliver and Peter just might have a happy ending all their own.

Book Review

This second book about “city shifters”, just as civilized as their human counterparts, is as funny and entertaining as the first. And, after a bear pairing up with a pronghorn, the combination in ‘Harey Situation’ is just as interesting: Oliver is a snake and Peter is a hare. Between the two of them they manage to not only heat up the sheets, but also to confront whoever seems to be out to kill one or possibly both of them. The resulting mix of suspense, mystery, and heat worked well for me.

Oliver is a snakeshifter and works in advertising – and yes, that did make me snigger. He moves from Boston to San Antonio, Texas, to find a new job for reasons that he is not happy to discuss. He may have a hard time getting used to the heat, but getting to know Peter, a hotel employee, is no hardship at all. Oliver’s refusal to start anything while still staying at Peter’s hotel was unexpected, but it proves that Oliver has principles.

Peter is a very horny hareshifter, but the reaction he has to Oliver is stronger than with any previous lover. Having to wait for Oliver to move to a different hotel, though admirable, increases Peter’s impatience even more. It’s a good thing he has his online classes to distract him – to a point – and his ambition to move into management once he graduates helps him restrain himself. Sort of. For a little while.

When the weird accidents Oliver has been having increase in number and frequency, and Oliver wants to protect Peter by sending him to safety, Peter puts his foot down. He isn’t helpless, and he is sure they are better off fighting the invisible enemy together. As it turns out, that is true. Even with the two of them, it takes some doing!

If you like unusual shifter pairings, if you prefer your paranormal stories to have a touch of humor, and if you’re looking for a read that is as mysteriously suspenseful and funny as it is hot, then you will probably like this novella.
