Book Blurb

Welcome back to the world of Rescue for Hire. Meet the team members that form a family of heroes. Gabriel Simmons has just interviewed and has been offered a field medic position with the rescue company, when a rescue call comes in. When the helicopter pilot arrives, the attraction between them is instantaneous and Gabriel’s wild, single days are over. But they have to push it aside because it’s going to take clear heads to save a kid mauled by a bear.

Little did Pete Kenyon know on the day of his father’s funeral, he would get a call to find a missing hiker and meet the love of his life. Of course, trust doesn’t come easy for an abused kid who grew up in a drug den. Then there’s the puzzle of his uncle’s threats to stay away from the house and land he just inherited. Can Gabriel and the team get there in time when Pete finds out the truth?

Book Review

I'm very glad that Bellann Summer decided to continue her 'Rescue for Hire' series after telling the stories of the five original members. At the end of book five, Cade and the rest of the team decided on a plan that keeps the company going but gives options to those members who might want to break away from actual rescue work in favor of teaching and/or training. Some of the men started families and others were thinking about it, so I thought their plan was a great one. Plus, of course, it insured I'd have more books to read. *grins*

I'm so glad I'm no longer young and stupid. Cade calls Pete and asks if he can help out with flying him and Gabriel, the team's new medic, to rescue a lost teenager who thought he could be Bear Grylls for a weekend. *snort* Pete has just come back from his dad's funeral and the rest of the team is in Minnesota helping rescue people from floodwaters. I didn't know a lot about Pete except he'd worked for Damien for the last five years and lived in an apartment above the hangar. Damien had referenced a history of abuse by the father but other than that I was meeting Pete for the first time.

Gabriel has spent the last eight years as a field medic on the front lines and he has seen more than his share of suffering. He's very excited to get the job with Rescue for Hire as Jack is going to be occupied with teaching and training. Gabriel is intrigued by Pete but it doesn't take long until he recognizes the signs of an abuse victim and knows he's got his work cut out for him. It doesn't help that Pete is positive he'll never trust anyone and certainly not a man. Not after what he went through at his dad and uncle's hands.

Such a sweet and loving addition. I did think Pete was a little quick to trust and fall in love with Gabriel, but they were so wonderful together I didn't mind. I can say I was somewhat surprised by a few of the revelations near the end but as usual, the family of Rescue for Hire came through for one of their own. I was very happy to see Pete get the life and love he so desperately needed, and to get a little justice too. I'm definitely looking forward to the next book.
