All she wanted was a little peace, maybe get away from so much of the pain her life held. After all, she'd lost her mom when she was two, her NY firefighter dad when she was fifteen, and now, the summer after high school, her best friend, whether to violence from without or within, she didn't know.
Enough. She'd lost enough.
In a bid to finally end it all while on a trip to Europe-a gift from her guardian and uncle, Cort-she discovers something new, a secret her blood has carried all along:
Samantha Cray, Ann to those who know her now, is to become the Wielder, the focused power center of a Circle dedicated to the Light, who fight the Dark in all its manifest forms.
But when her best friend, Fran, shows up in London and becomes a part of the process herself as well as so much more than just a friend, Ann must learn and learn fast, not just who to fight, but how to fight, because the Dark will stop at nothing-not even harming those she loves-to stop her.
This book lives, breathes, and flows through the many domains of existence via their frequency and vibration. I adore this kind of esoterica, the life and teachings of the Kybalion. There is also an intense love affair which astoundingly is quite helpful in discharging the extra energy that is connected with the heightened dynamic states that are associated with the profound learning and requisite élan vital that are experienced during the training period. Additionally both lovers are being prepared for two established and special ceremonies that are very ancient and immensely important. I felt as if I were right in the middle of everything that was happening which was extraordinarily satisfying. I was transported into a world I have only dreamt existed. If you have sensed there is an ageless wisdom that is associated with a focused power and linked to the maintenance of the Light that fights the dark in all its manifest forms, then this book is definitely for you!
Samantha Joan Cray, now known as Ann, is the next in line to ascend to an important position within the Inner Circle of the Light. She lost her mother at a young age and her father died supposedly in the line of duty as a firefighter. However, she is a talented musician, a totally passionate and unwavering lover, and committed to learn, excel, and master all that is required of her by virtue of her bloodline. It will be a long and arduous process, which I thoroughly enjoyed with her every step along the way. Fantastic!
Francesca, generally called Fran, knew Samantha in high school and was Ann's first lover. She is now her true lover and they do engage in some deliciously tempestuous, intimate, sexual lovemaking. Fran is also tutored and prepared for the important ceremonies she will be involved in. Additionally, she seems to have a highly intuitive and perceptive ability to see to the heart of matters better than anyone at times, providing some very important insights that clarify matters in a rather timely manner. Beautiful!
Ann and Fran are both being mentored through some ageless and time-honored studies and skills. The schooling is incredibly rigorous but intriguingly expansive and supportive for what they will be called on to do after they are ritually embraced. Besides this phenomenal instruction and guidance, they are encouraged to be young adults. That blending really sets this story apart from previous books I have read that still enthralled me while encompassing the metaphysical and the ethereal. I wholeheartedly and enthusiastically recommend this book for anyone who has touched or imagined the existence of an age-old mystical development and desires to know and feel more about such a erudite yet magnificent journey. Brilliant!
