Hugh’s six year old son, Orion, has just recently come to live with him. He has taken vacation time over the summer break to be with the boy and teach him to swim before he goes to summer camp. Orion and Hugh meet Quigley and a deep friendship develops. For two weeks they spend time together at the swimming pool and the park, getting to know each other.
Quigley and Hugh are intensely attracted to each other, but Orion has already been rejected by his mother. Hugh can’t possibly let the child be less than his top priority now. Is their romance doomed?
NOTE: This book has been previously released by Silver Publishing in June 2011.
This is a fun, light read about a gay dad who learns to adapt to having his five-year-old son live with him. The pace of the story is good, the scenes with the kid adorable, and the new man in their lives may have a somewhat strange name (Quigley), but he's very cute and supportive. Oh, yes, once the two men make it into the bedroom, the sex is very hot.
Hugh has quite the adjustment to make after his ex-wife decides she no longer wants their son, Orion, living with her and her new husband. Hugh loves is son, and never lost touch with him, but suddenly having him there 24/7, needing schooling and attention, is quite different and can be overwhelming. He figures his chances of finding a partner of either sex are nil – nobody is interested in dating a guy with a kid, right? Wrong!
Quigley is a pretty special guy. He runs into Hugh and Orion in the store where they buy swimming trunks, then again at the pool. He clearly loves kids, and is more than interested in Hugh. He is also a very determined man, and as understanding and supportive as he is where Orion is concerned, he definitely has romantic plans for Hugh.
If you're looking for an entertaining story, if you like cute kids and are not interested in a lot of conflict or tough choices, you will probably like this novella.
