Parents, be they the biological or the foster kind, can have the best of intentions for their kids and yet, some of their decisions can have a devastating effect. In this story, Adam doesn’t even know that the boy he thought abandoned him has actually been kicked out by their foster mother, a woman whom Adam has loved and respected for many years. When her death results in him finally discovering the truth, a new world of possibilities opens up for Adam.

Adam is in for a rude awakening when the letters his foster mother has hidden from him for so many years turn up in a box that had been stuffed in the basement. It is tough dealing with the shock and disappointment of what she has done, but the realization that he finally has some hope of finding Connor also sets him free. What follows is a very sweet reunion, despite the issues both Adam and Connor have to deal with.

If you like second chances, if you believe that love is stronger than the need to meddle (no matter how well-intentioned), and if you’re looking for a read that is emotional, sweet, and has a great ending, then you will probably like this short story.
