Following an amicable divorce, former stay-at-home dad Scott Mitchell needs to get a job—and a new lifestyle to help him manage his depression, since he lost his Domme along with his marriage. At least one of his problems is solved when finds work at Wilde Publishing. Fulfilling his boss’s needs at the office gives him a productive focus and pays the bills, but becoming a PA to publishing wunderkind Milo Brock isn’t without its trials.

After an injury put an end to his dreams of the NHL, Milo got an education and pursued other interests. At work, he runs Wilde’s sports division. At play, he’s always thought of himself as straight, but his attraction to his new PA casts that into doubt. Luckily a hard life has taught Milo to take things in stride.

Scott and Milo are battling separate lives, ghosts from their pasts, a sister dying of cancer, and a clash of preferences in the bedroom. Scott needs to submit to keep himself balanced; Milo prefers vanilla sex. If they can’t find some middle ground, they’ll lose the support they both desperately need.

Book Review

This story is about self-discovery and healing as much as about learning to be honest with yourself. Scott has a lot to learn and a huge journey to take before he finds out how to deal with his issues, and the fact that he finds the courage to do so means there is a wonderful message of hope in these pages as well as an emotionally fulfilling love story.

Scott has a pretty dark past, and much of his current trouble stems from that. He is in dire need of help, but cannot accept it from the usual sources, and when he finally admits that he is in over his head with a wife and kids, he gets a divorce and starts over. Not that this solves his issues, but it is the beginning to his path to healing. Sometimes a drastic change like that is needed, and this story is a good example. Dealing with his need for pain and how it relates to his need to submit is a tough one to figure out! Scott's ability to deal with life gradually grows, as does his love for Milo, and I loved watching both of them develop their relationship.

Milo has his own issues, but he has dealt with them differently. He is a totally different type of personality from Scott, and I liked how well that came through in the novel. And even though he likes being in control, he needs support as well. Scott is uniquely suited to be there for him, and even though they don't talk about it initially, their instinct is correct. Following their gut works well for them, to the point where the issues as boss and employee can be worked through because they each keep a level head (most of the time) despite their passion for each other.

If you like stories with quite some depth to the characters and their relationship, if you enjoy deeply emotional and difficult journeys, and if you're looking to understand different types of submission and domination, then you will probably be just as fascinated by this book as I was.
