Dear Author,
Completely debauched, wrecked— he’s floating now, but tomorrow the shame will come. Tomorrow he’ll be disgusted all over again at what he’s done. What he’s allowed to be done to him. More than that… what he’s begged for.
And the worst part? He’s so stupid in love with the man he just keeps coming back for more. Because of this moment. This one, right here, when he can believe that he’s loved in return, even if it is only for the night.
See, it’s not the acts they engage in that shame him. It’s not the bondage or the submission or the mind-blowing sex— he finds his strength there. It’s his weakness for the man himself that’s destroying him. Because tomorrow he’ll be gone again.
He can’t go on like this. He tells himself that every time, swears this time will be the last. He needs for there to be a tomorrow, and a next day, and a next day— for them, together. Not just another tomorrow of loss and heartache and picking up the pieces.
But he can’t tell him that… can he?

This story was written as a part of the M/M Romance Group's "Love Has No Boundaries" event. Group members were asked to write a story prompt inspired by a photo of their choice. Authors of the group selected a photo and prompt that spoke to them and wrote a short story.
Wow! Angsty and intense, this story pulled me right into Jason's desperate need for a relationship with Ben, the man he met five months ago for a hookup. That's all Ben ever promised, and now that Jason has fallen in love, he is torn apart by the need for more. Their BDSM activities are what pulled them together, but the intensity of it, the degree to which Jason opened himself up to Ben's domination over his body, has now put his heart at risk as well.
And he has no idea how to fix that. In fact, it's way too late and there is no way he can fix it. Over the course of the story his desperation steadily grows, to the point where he realizes he has no other choice than to tell Ben. The fear of disappointment suddenly becomes less important than the constant pain of not being with Ben after their weekly meeting is over.
Lisa Henry has done a great job describing Jason's thoughts, and if you've never experienced unrequited love, or the fear of it, this story will tell you exactly what it feels like. If you like super-angsty stories, if you enjoy reading about the feelings as well as the physical heat of a BDSM relationship, and if you’re looking for a read that will most likely steal your breath as you try to read faster so you can find out what happens, then you will probably like this free short story as much as I did.
