The idea of inviting a reality TV team into your restaurant for a makeover could only occur to someone truly desperate – and that describes Keith’s situation perfectly. His dream of running a successful nightclub has come true, but the “attached” restaurant is going nowhere fast. It’s probably because Keith is a disaster in the kitchen and doesn’t even know where to begin. Since Restaurant Take Two will cover half the cost of the renovations and contribute a new menu for free, Keith decides it is worth the pain and goes ahead.

The whole setup is perfect – exactly like the ones I have seen in various “real” reality shows. The setup is designed for maximum friction between the clueless owner and the team coming in, the celebrity chef is super arrogant and offends with impunity, and all Keith has to do is “suffer” on camera. What Keith had not counted on is how hot Chef Dominic is and how nice he turns out to be off camera. Well, mostly.

If you enjoy unlikely romances between men who seem to be destined to rub each other the wrong way, if celebrity chefs swearing at everyone in their reach are your thing, and if you’re looking for an entertaining read that is as funny as it is touching, then you will probably like this short story as much as I do. It’s even better than one of those episodes on TV!
