Doug's life will never be the same after Hurricane Lauris.

Book Review

'Doug & Neal' is the sixth, and final, installment in the series 'Storming Love: One Storm, Twelve Men'. Each book was written by a different author, and the only common thread was Hurricane Lauris which hit North Carolina. It's been fun and interesting, reading each author’s interpretation of the devastation a hurricane can cause, but also, the bonds and the love that can grow when men are tested to their limits.

Doug has flown from Northern California to North Carolina to help his elderly grandmother weather the hurricane. During the beginning stage of the storm, her next-door neighbor, Neal, has a tree fall in to his house, and he ends up staying with Doug and his grandma. Three days of playing cards, talking about anything and everything, leaves Doug and Neal as new friends, with an undeniable attraction. But Doug and Ryan have been together for three years, and yes, they've definitely got their share of issues, which Doug plans on addressing once he gets home. Doug is still committed to Ryan, no matter how attracted he might be to Neal.

However, when Doug gets home, it would appear that Ryan wasn't quite as committed to Doug as he was to Ryan. Ryan met someone in the week Doug was gone, and Doug comes home to an empty house. Nice guy, huh? That's okay, it gives Doug and Neal a chance to see if there's more between them than friendship, and gives Doug the opportunity to go away for a bit and leave the hurt behind.

Doug and Neal's story was a sweet and cute finale to the series. I liked the slow way they took this long-distance relationship, and compromised to make it work. Of course the stray pregnant dog they found and took in, gave the story just an extra "awww" to make it work. An easy and enjoyable read.
