Five years after an accident in the Army left Jim blind, he's braving the summer heat and a new guide dog to walk in the 4th of July parade with the other Wounded Warriors. In Jim's imagination, he finished the parade, got down on one knee in his uniform, and asked Milo The Question. But a touch of heatstroke wasn't in his plan, and he still hasn't found Milo in the crowded fairgrounds. It's going to take perseverance, strength, and a little love from Milo to get Jim through this Dog Days March.

Book Review

Losing your sight no doubt presents great challenges, but, in 'Dog Days March' by Liam Grey, if you have someone who is as nurturing and perceptive as Jim's lover Milo, your life is still marvelous and fulfilling.

Jim lost his sight in an accident, but gained the love of his life, Milo, when he stopped to help. What could have been a total tragedy for Jim turns into one of the most precious things in his life. Their loving relationship is tangible; when they make love, the world stops. Milo loves Jim with every fiber of his soul. He's Jim's eyes describing what he sees for him, but Jim is not helpless. With the aid of his service dog, he can maneuver through almost any situation with little difficulty. Milo's vivid descriptions of people, places, and things, bringing them to life through his eyes for Jim, reminded me of how special sight is and how easily I take it for granted. Milo knows that he walks a thin line between helping Jim and encroaching upon his independence and does an excellent job of keeping that in mind.

The day Jim walks in the parade is a special day for more reasons than one but he is preoccupied. Milo knows something is troubling Jim, but he won't tell him what it is. Jim, overcome with a bit of heatstroke, asks to come home early from the celebration. After a nap, Jim follows the sounds of Milo tinkering in the garage. They declare their love both verbally and physically and it is described in such a beautiful way that I felt like a voyeur. There's little doubt that these two men are perfectly matched, madly in love, and deserve to be together forever. If you'd like to read an emotional, sensual, and romantic story that will touch your heart, this is definitely one for you. Thanks, Liam. I would love to know more about Milo and Jim. Is there any chance of a longer story?
