Vivian Cooper and the DiGiovanni twins have been through hell and back. And they’re still broke and on the run. Life’s a bitch like that.
Cooper and the twins are together again. This time with Reese and Ryan’s fathers in tow. All they have to do is get their money back. But they dig up more than they bargained for in Vegas. And that chick who ripped them off in Mexico doesn’t want to give up the gold. Plus the DiGiovanni family is probably still after them. And maybe the cops. This whole stealing the money and running thing is hard.
Even if they manage to get the money and get away, can they stay hidden? Cooper’s sins have to catch up at some point. Will Reese and Ryan still be her salvation?
Final novel in the Dirty Trilogy
Here we have some rough and tumble action with some felons on the run! A big plus is the main characters were very engaging right from the start. There is a good deal of cursing, but that fits right in with trying to stay several steps ahead of the police, the FBI, and a crime family/syndicate. They bounce around the U.S., Europe, and had plans for South America. On balance, I enjoyed this book although I felt a bit confused at the beginning, but that may have just be me being a tad tired. On balance, this is was a really fun read.
Vivian Cooper appears to have the primary voice in this story. I’ve never read anyone quite like this Coop/Cooper person…only her mother calls her Vivian. She is head over heels in love with Reese, but they are a bit on the outs at the start of things. These folks could stay in bed for days at time and we get to share some of the action, which was generally hot and heavy! There is a curious bit about Coop and Reese not eating beef or pork. That is just one of many funny and enjoyable sidebars that just kept popping up. I was quite impressed with Coop and definitely rooted for her reconciliation with Reese.
Reese DioGiovanni is the twin sister to Ryan DioGiovanni. DioGiovanni is the family name for a prosperous, hardcore organized crime family. There are a great number of people involved with this family and their enterprises. I had some difficulty keeping track. Nevertheless, Reese and Ryan are very tight with each other and definitely on the run from all the same folks Coop is. There are two others who are hooked up with Reese, Ryan and Cooper. One of them turns out to be the twin’s biological father and his partner. The twins believed Cooper had killed their father’s partner. That was not the case. Many things are not really what they appear to be at the start. That was often fun, curious, and sometimes interesting to keep tabs on. However, on occasion my head would spin.
The beginning of the story also has this bit about retrieving gold…a great deal of gold. It became the reason the five bonded and became a mini crime group on their own. After the gold scenario is completed there is a another new deal involving the five their being tracked all over the world by crime fighting type folks. There are more gambits going on in this book than I could keep count of. Most of it seemed reasonable, but I was a tad disappointed in the manner in which Alexis DioGiovanni was handled. She was a cousin of Reese and Ryan. However, as I have done in the past, since the book was so freakin’ funny and enjoyable, I am willing to give the author a pass on an end of book shortcut. If you like your books super chocked full of all manner of things, this will be a winner. I definitely ended up enjoying this wild and woolly whoosh through the world of hardcore criminals and those who track them. Give it a try!
