Book Blurb

Ray Miller was a misfit until he found his calling in the Army. But an explosion in Afghanistan took his left eye and ended his career. Set adrift, he turns to alcohol, until an old army buddy shows up and offers Ray a job. Now Ray has a secret identity. He puts his combat skills to use as Cyclops, a paid assassin who rids the government of bad guys.

Then one day a chance meeting sets off sparks, and Ray falls for a man who can destroy him. Hooking up with a cop is reckless, but the sex rocks Ray's world. How long can he hide his secrets before the hitman becomes the target?

Book Review

Secret identities, mysterious kill orders, and an assassin dedicated to “the code” he shares with the man who gives him assignments are at the center of this story. The main character believes it is perfectly reasonable for him to be a killer, but once he starts to doubt the truth of his beliefs? He is up the proverbial sh*t creek without a paddle and in desperate need of assistance he refuses to accept.

Ray is a former soldier who has reason be a “lone wolf” – but he takes this idea further than most. He is so involved in his life of secret missions and dark purpose that he is beginning to drift away from any sort of moral compass. The one thing that saves him, in the end, is his cop boyfriend, Jared. Not that Ray has ever shared any of his shady side with Jared, but when push comes to shove and Ray is in mortal danger, Jared proves he can be stubborn too and drags Ray – kicking and screaming – back into a more normal life.

If you like stories about assassins learning the error of their ways, if you want to see a man who thinks he does not deserve a normal life find out he can still have it all, and if you’re looking for an intense read full of suspense and discoveries, then you might like this short novella.
