Book Blurb

War is looming, and as the alpha, it falls to Dante to protect his shifter pack from the hybrid creatures spawned to prey upon them. To that end he joins forces with the Nephilim Odin in the hopes of keeping both their people safe, though past slights and animosity between the clans continue to cause strain. Attacks on the packs and Nephilim clans increase, and the seemingly endless army of hybrids will not stop growing. Dante knows their only chance to put an end to the carnage is to find the nest where his twin August and August’s mistress are creating the hybrids.

With entire cities being destroyed, Dante must call upon the pack weave to find the people who have been captured—and the nest. Dante and Odin gather an army for an all-out attack. Though a desperate and risky move, Dante has been backed into a corner and he sees no other alternative. It’s a battle they must win at any price, because the cost of losing will be catastrophic.

Book Review

"The whole process took only seven days. Seven days to change a worthless creature like a human into something… new.
They would never be human again, or shifter or Nephilim. They would be… something else."

Having only recently read the first book in this series, I was eager to read this next installment. I knew that there was going to be a lot of suspense, action, thrills and chills, and I was hoping for some answers regarding the hybrids, August, who is Dante's twin, and his mistress, Eveline, who is Odin's sister.

Eveline is quite old for a Nephilim and also quite mad. Literally. In fact, Odin and several others put her in a magical sleep many, many years ago hoping to prevent exactly what is currently happening. She is the only Nephilim capable of making the hybrids and after changing August in some way, she uses his strong alpha gifts to help her in her endeavor to destroy all packs and Nephilim, along with as many humans as possible. Basically, Eveline wants the streets to run with blood and everyone worshipping her.

It takes Dante and Odin to rally their respective groups into believing the seriousness of the threat. Of course, when hybrids attack both the Nephilim clans and the wolf packs at their individual gatherings, it's obvious that something has to be done soon. It doesn't help that Odin's father, an Ancient who is unpredictable and insane, will try anything to prevent Odin from going after Eveline. Unfortunately for all concerned - humans, pack, and clans - August and Eveline loose their hybrids upon a mostly unsuspecting world, and the secrets of the paranormal world are suddenly thrust into the light of day.

I can't begin to tell you the horror and sadness I experienced at the end of this book. The author has left me with a serious cliff-hanger, not to mention many favored characters not ending up where I thought they would. The world as Dante and his pack, and Odin and his clan, knew it is gone. Forever gone, I think. I'll be holding my breath anxiously awaiting the next book because I'm just ruthless enough to want to see revenge and justice served to August and Eveline in the most torturous and bloody manner possible.

An unimaginably stunning book. I will bear the wounds from this story for many days.
