Book Blurb

Ian’s normal, boring life consists of his small town bartending job and his on again/off again relationship with his strictly vanilla boyfriend. Ian wants something more -- he just doesn’t know what. When fate -- and a traveling theatre troupe -- drops his high school crush, Ezra, in Ian’s path, Ian has to choose between his stable, boring life, or risk everything for a future full of uncertainty -- and the possibility of real love.

Ezra’s loved Ian since high school, and he’s always regretted the chance he didn’t take. But will Ian consent to be Ezra lover -- and his partner in his darkest fantasies?

Book Review

Some people like their “normal” life – however they define “normal”. But there are some who add the descriptor “boring” to “normal”, and those are usually the kind of people who aren’t really all that happy with what they have. Some of them, like Ian in this story, get the opportunity to make a change. But that can be frightening, and not everyone is “bored” enough to take the risk. Ian doesn’t really know what to do for quite a while, doesn’t even realize how serious Ezra is when he offers him an alternative, but once he gets it? His decision comes easier than he would have imagined.

Ian is a bartender in a small town, and cannot be out – mainly because the man who likes to think of himself as his boyfriend resolutely refuses to come out ad acknowledge him. That hurts, and only works as long as there is no alternative for Ian. As soon as his old high school crush Ezra walks into the bar, all that changes. Ezra is exactly what Ian wants in a man, and the way he dominates in the bedroom gets Ian hotter than he ever thought possible.

The BDSM play they indulge in is more kink than true D/s, and perfectly suitable for a “beginning” reader of this genre. There are some pretty hot scenes where Ezra shows Ian a new way of sexual interaction, and Ian is hooked. I can see how he is tempted, but I have to admit that the fact he hasn’t let his “boyfriend” know what is going on made me uncomfortable. If that doesn’t bother you, and you like stories where the main character has to make a choice between his old, familiar life and something totally new, then you might like this short read.
