Owen may be a bit of a country mouse, but he’s loving his vacation in London. After a long day playing tourist, he’s on the hunt for some cheap beer and a good burger. Instead he finds a man hunting him, an arrogant prick with only one thing on the brain: the kind of meat that doesn’t come on a bun.
Eighty-hour weeks at a trading desk don’t leave Malcolm Kavanagh much time for meaningful relationships. Besides, in his world, everything’s a competition—even sex. When his newest one-night-sub fails to show, Malcolm sets his sights on the pretty young Yank on the bar stool beside him.
Owen’s all for an adventure with a native, but he’s not the pushover Malcolm thinks he is, and Malcolm’s not as shallow as he tries to be. They both soon learn that nothing's too intimate to share with a stranger, and the strangest things happen when two people share the most important pieces of their hearts.

Wow, this is such an all-round wonderful, funny, and amazing story, I don’t even know where to start. I admit that I was a little skeptical at first – like many others I wasn’t sure about what to expect from this pair of authors working together. The result, I am happy to report, is as delightful as it is emotionally rewarding.
Owen is not only a country mouse (a description that grossly simplifies the many layers of his personality), he knows exactly what he wants. Not that he has ever found it, and not that he expects to discover it in the somewhat annoying guy he meets at a pub on a Friday evening. Luckily, he is curious enough to go with him and find out more – and what a discovery that becomes.
Malcolm starts out as a totally repressed, pseudo-dominant idiot. He may know there is more to him (but he denies it), Owen may see there is something behind the walls Malcolm has put up (and has little trouble seeing it), and I was just fascinated with the back-and-forth banter and play between the two in their struggle for – not the dominance you might expect, but the real feelings both crave.
This is one of those books that starts out as one thing; all the negotiation about soft and hard limits and Malcom’s posturing make sure of that. But then, a few pages in, there is a turning point and the story starts to explore much deeper feelings. Malcolm ends up being the one taken by surprise, and Owen has his work cut out for him. But what I liked best is that both of them end up surprising themselves and the other – the twists and turns definitely kept me glued to my seat.
If you’re looking for a fun, interesting, and surprising read, you will probably like this book as much as I did. Just be ready to expect the unexpected – and I promise this is one ‘ride’ you will not regret taking.
