When photographer’s assistant Gary Holland meets three Australian underpants models—all called Bruce—on what should be a routine shoot in LA, it turns out to be anything but. He falls for the geekiest, yet sexiest, Bruce of them all, but soon learns Bruce has not only never been with another man but is an anxious virgin.
Bruce lives in the whimsically named town of Come By Chance in northern New South Wales, population 187. After a torrid fling starts in California, Bruce wants Gary to visit him in the land down under. Shocks, laughter, love, a shy kangaroo named Phillip, a goose called Zeus and a tractor that thinks it’s a horse, soon welcome Gary to a life he never thought he’d want to live. Can two men who are such opposites make a life together? Does love like this really…come by chance?

I absolutely loved this book. Not just because it had me laughing out loud, and because the characters were so HOT together. A lot of it had to do with the personal memories I have of living in Australia for six months – it brought all of them back. Well, not the bits that took part in the bush and on the remote farm, but from the mention of bug spray in the plane just before landing and the airport in Sydney, where Gary arrives, to all the places he and Bruce visit when they’re ‘in town’, it made me smile. The descriptions are so lively that I felt as if I really was back there again. Made me homesick for a place I totally adore!
The shorter version that was part of the goodreads MM Romance group Hot Summer Days event was already great, with the three Bruces and the trouble they get themselves into. Luckily, it is also part of this book, so you won’t miss anything. But this longer version? Fantastic! More of the same in every way: more of Gary, and his slightly hesitant way of looking at things, trying to get used to a very different country and wondering if he can make things work with Bruce. More of the sexy Bruce, who is a bit reluctant to admit he is gay, but can’t deny his attraction to Gary. More of the great descriptions of the landscape, the heat and the people of Australia. And, of course, yet more hot sex between two men who are clearly falling for each other.
If you like Australia, hot men, and a wonderful sense of humor, you will probably like this book. If you need a laugh, or want to learn more about "down under", buy this book, and be ready to truly enjoy yourself. I had this one on the "want to re-read" stack ever since I first read it, and am very happy this rerelease gave me the "excuse" I needed to read the story again!
