Book Blurb

Micah's job as an escort is to be whatever his client wants him to be, and he loves it -- especially because pretending to be someone else is better than remembering what he's running from.

Mr. Daniel Hart, a client who had been expecting a female escort, is suddenly thrown into Micah's world and won't stop exploring until he knows Micah's secrets.

Unable to stay away from Daniel, Micah continues to return to high society functions and is therefore reminded of the terrible scar on his chest and the man who gave it to him. Micah wants nothing more than to belong to the artistic Daniel, but being with him could mean having to face his dangerous past.

Book Review

Running from your past rarely works long-term, especially when there's someone after you from whom you're trying to hide. This story shows how hard it is to truly begin a new life, and how hard it is, even when a man comes along who looks trustworthy, it takes some time and effort to believe he will be better than the previous guy. The resulting story, with a "knight in shining armor" coming to the rescue, is a sweet modern-day fairy tale about an escort who learns to trust again.

Micah, who became an escort (but refuses to "put out") to make a living, finds out how difficult it is to escape from his past (in his head) as well as the actual physical threat from a possessive and abusive ex. He may have built a new life for himself, but the fear is still with him and stops him from trusting Daniel – in the end preventing him from beginning a new life. Once he experiences Daniel's care, however, he slowly understands that Daniel may be different. But it's not an easy process.

Daniel is rich and clearly interested in Micah, and does his best to let him know. Without understanding the man's past he doesn’t quite know what he's facing. It takes him a while to figure it out, but once he does, there is no hesitation. I liked how Daniel took charge – and so does Micah!

If you like stories about men on the run from an abusive ex, if you enjoy reading sweet fairytales, and if you're looking for a short, hot read with a touch of danger, then you will probably like this short story.
