Chase Might was a man in trouble. On a mission for the protection agency he owned with his brothers, he somehow found himself shot and cornered in a deserted warehouse by the third most powerful man in the Dominguez drug cartel. To make matters worse, a man claiming to need his help in protecting his infant son is also being hunted by the brutal drug lord. Chase can ignore the instincts screaming at him to protect the beautiful man and escape with his life or he can stay and fight a battle he has no chance of winning.
Was there really a choice?
Patrick O'Leary only wants to get his son to safety. The man he married had gone from the man of his dreams to the monster in his nightmares. Patrick no longer cares if he escapes. He doubts he'll live through the next beating, but he'll do anything in his power to ensure the horror he has suffered for so very long doesn't befall his son, even if that means making a deal with a complete stranger.
Did he have any other choice?
After the last few very long, and drama-filled books I have read, I was thrilled to find a new series by the very talented Stormy Glenn. I needed some action adventure, hot sex, a wonderful happy ever after, and just a little angst thrown in to make me a very happy woman. I certainly knew this author could provide all of that and then some! I can sat that there's a whole lot more to the Might brothers and their mother than meets the eye but I'm not telling. You'll need to read it for yourself.
I love a big, strong shifter with a sexy body, a strong sense of honor, and a protective streak a mile long. Looks like I found three in the form of Chase, Clint, and Ryan, cat shifters who opened their own protection agency. This latest job has gone to hell in a hand basket however, with Chase having to let Patrick create a diversion so Chase can get away while taking Patrick's son, Tommy, with him. Of course meeting Patrick while hiding in an abandoned warehouse from a drug cartel monster's thugs wasn't exactly what Chase was expecting either. Finding out Patrick is married to the monster and trying to get away really put a seal on the whole strange situation. Chase didn't like leaving the little man there but he liked the idea of Dominic getting his hands on the infant even less. Chase knew he'd be back to get Patrick out.
It was exciting to watch Chase and his brothers work their mojo on getting intel on Dominic and finding Patrick. Yep, you guessed it. I adored Patrick. Anyone willing to die for the safety of their child is gold in my book. Then I got to watch Chase and Patrick fall in love. Sigh.
Yes, I can honestly admit that Chase and Patrick's story was exactly what I needed tonight. It was everything I wanted plus some great extras and I'm curious to see where the author takes it. Excellent beginning and I'm looking forward to more.
