Book Blurb

It’s not easy learning how to be a swan, but Ori Jones has worked hard to embrace a role that still doesn’t come entirely naturally to him. Now, almost a year after his first full shift, he finally feels as if he is making a difference at the Anderson nest.

Ori’s happier than he’d ever been, until a few words from his master, Raynard, suddenly bring all of Ori’s old fears rushing back to the surface.

The nest’s elders want to have a party for Ori’s birthday, but Ori can’t see any reason to celebrate in it being a year since he reached his avian maturity. After all, what’s the use in learning to be a good swan when Raynard never wanted a swan in the first place?

Please Note: This story is best read in order as part of the Avian Shifters series.

Book Review

It was absolutely wonderful to return to the world of the avian shifters created by Kim Dare in Duck! and Magpie. Even better – it wasn’t a reread of a story I adore, but a new tale about Ori, the majestic swan shifter who is a submissive, and Raynard, his hawk shifter Master. In classic Ori style, he worries about various things, and while it is clear that he has adapted to being seen as the bird shifters’ ruler, it is equally obvious that he couldn’t do it without Raynard’s support.

The focus of the story is Ori’s birthday that is also the one-year anniversary of his first shift. And while Ori is secure in knowing that Raynard is in charge, he also can’t stop himself from wondering whether Raynard is really happy with him and whether his wonderful life might not be too good to be true. Raynard’s way of reassuring Ori is as decisive as it is hot, whether in the cells Ori is inspecting at the beginning of the story or on the evening of Ori’s official birthday celebration. All the attention has exhausted Ori, but what Raynard has planned is the perfect way to fix everything.

If you like Ori and Raynard and want to know how they’re getting on, if a devoted sub serving his magnificent Master is to your liking, and if you’re looking for a short read that is as entertaining as it is hot, then you will probably like this short story as much as I do, I can’t get enough of these guys!
